1 Hi everone! I finally made it to Canada to visit with Anne. This album is our trip to the Rocky Mountian's Alberta, Canada.
| 2 For those who like to know where they are I included a map of Alberta. I was along for the ride and to busy looking at the mountians to worry about where I was.
| 3 The green area is the Candian Rocky Mountians. On the center right of the map is Red Deer where Anne lives. We went to Edmonton for Anne's grandson's birthday then drove to just outside of the park and spent the night.
|
4 The eveing before it was raining then started to turn into snow. We awoke to a few inches of snow on the ground. On our way to breakfast Anne carried out Gaye's orders and threw a snow ball at me. Hans then threw one at her. SNOWBALL FIGHT LOL
| 5 Anne and I were laughing so hard. When we were checking out, I said I had to take a picture of the snow. Anne told everyone that I was from Georgia. lol What can I say it doesn't snow where I live in Georgia. Anne's husban Hans, thought we were far to happy for that early in the morning.
| 6 As were getting up into the mountians we stopped and took a loop trail around a canyon. It wasn't far before we saw 2 big horn sheep grazing.
|
7 I don't thik I will but heads with that guy. lol
| 8 Anne and Hans at canyon lookout. The view was awesome even though the day was overcast. Anne and I are still laughing and giggling away.
| 9 The plaque describes the type of rock found there.
|
10 This is part of the canyon. You can hear the water falls but you can't see them.
| 11 zoom view
| 12 Looking down into the canyon. The water falling as it weaves its way in and out of the rocks.
|
13 If you look closly at the top you can see the stream that is cutting its way through the canyon.
| 14 White water rushing through the narrow canyon.
| 15 Waterfall further up the stream. This trail was a beautiful walk that crossed over the canyon twice.
|
16 You can see the water cutting its way through the rock and creating a waterfall.
| 17 This is the headwaters of the canyon.
| 18 You can see the white water racing its way through the rocks.
|
19 The water is disappearing into the rocks.
| 20 The water has gone under the rocks. This is the end of the canyon trail. Nice little walk but ready to sit and rest.
| 21 The vibrent colors and the mountians were beautiful.
|
22 Anne took a picture of me taking a picture. lol
| 23 An Elk grazing by the side of the road.
| 24 The clouds were laying around the mountians creating awesome views.
|
25 Are we there yet? How much further? This is half way up the mountian to the glaicer. Anne had wanted me to see the glaicer but didn't relize that it was such a steep long walk to it. We decided to try, stopping and resting offten. We took a long break and sat on some rocks. Anyone have a tin cup for me?
| 26 Looking down from half way up. The parking lot was near the pond. It the 1800's the glaicer use to be to the road. They had markers with dates to cronicle the melting of the glaicer.
| 27 We made it!!!!!! Awesome view
|
28 It was windy and cold up there. Burrrrrrrrr The view so worth the climb. Anne and I did something we were not sure we could do, our spirits were flying high.
| 29 The glaicer and the mountians were so beautiful. If you look closly on the right center you can see a man hiking on to a roped off area of the glaicer. We decided it was best not to go any further.
| 30 I just was in awe of the mountian.
|
31 We drove south on the Icefields Parkway. The mountians are just awesome. The pictures do not do them justice. If you can ever go see them it is worth it.
| 32 This is Lake Louise, so majestic. Anne said it is one of the most photographed lakes in the world.
| 33 Anne and I are still smiling and laughing even though it has been a long day.
