1 The cars start showing up at around six a.m. As scenic as Morgan's Park is, if is difficult to photograph here because of the uneven terrain. By the way...why are 1955 Chevy's called Tri-Fives?
| 2 I always like AMCs additions to the Muscle Car era.
| 3 It's pretty hard to miss this cruiser.
| 4 The engine bay is ultra-clean. I wish I could keep my ride looking like this.
|
5 The park is on the shore with some steep slopes, so getting a good spot is a coveted endeavor.
| 6 Despite most manufacturers getting away from it, chrome still dresses up an engine bay like nothing else. My first vehicle had a 250 c.i straight six that I had chrome pieces on, but it never looked like this!
| 7 A straight six can even look mega-cool! I didn't get a chance to talk with this Nova's owner.
| 8 how low can you go? I'm sure this guy took some weeds with him when he left.
|
9 An LS engine adds to the appeal.
| 10 I'm not a huge fan of the flat paint jobs, but I like the Tiki themed airbrush work on this lead-sled.
| 11 A better look at the tail-dragger
| 12 The morning sun would really flash on this if the paint was glossy.
|
13 I like the sculpted metal work around the frenched antenna.
| 14 Smile.
| 15 It's still early, so I'm going to take a walk out on the jetty to get a unique vantage point of the show.
| 16 This is the path I'm going to take...is this really a good idea???
|
17 That is a beacon on the end, I'm getting close.
| 18 This is a look at the park from the end of the breakwater.
| 19 That looks like a Vette over there...
| 20 Getting out took about fifteen minutes. The footing is treacherous, and with green algae covering much of the surface, it's even more tricky. Having a bag of camera gear around my neck is the real bugaboo.
|
21 Now I've got to head back.
| 22 Airbrush art on cars is waning in popularity, but still shows up from time to time. This skull-swoosh caught my eye.
| 23 It wouldn't be a car show without a number of muscle cars, 'Vettes, Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, 'Cudas etc.
| 24 That's a serious cowl on that fiberglass hood!
