1 I'm applying for a job at GT Graphics & Customs, so I decided that one of my unique t-shirts couldn't hurt my chances. I copied their logo and put it on the back of the tee.
| 2 I add the rest of the title underneath, and do some simple shading and shadows.
| 3 I got the inspiration do do an Ed Roth type picture for the front, so I flipped the shirt over and got started. This I can do freehand. So I jump right in.
| 4 I'll color it in later, so I keep at the black outline.
|
5 Not being knowledgeable about motorcycles, I want to get a reference picture before, I go too far.So I add some color.
| 6 Putting my best foot forward, I keep my back to the camera.
| 7 I make the eyes bloodshot, and color in the tongue, shade the wrench he's clutching and move along...
| 8 I came across a shot of the front of a motorcycle, so I start adding that.
|
9 I want this guy to epitomize the chronic do-it-yourselfer, who has no clue what he's doing, so I give him a hammer.
| 10 I've got the Bike roughed in, so I start adding the colors.
| 11 Getting closer to what I'm looking for.
| 12 I hope you noticed the band-aid on the gas tank, the duct tape on the front fork and the rag tied around the leak in the front tire. I add some lettering to advertise what I want to say about GT Graphics & Customs.
|
13 When the back of the shirt is seen, after viewing the front, It spells out "Quality Work". Unfortunately, I did a lame-ass job centering the purple lettering. I hope it doesn't stand out too boldly.
| 14 Now I add the hot-chick and the custom bike. I got so wrapped up in the work, that I forgot to snap some shots of the process.
| 15 The bike starts it's metamorphosis. I don't know a hell of a lot about motorcycles, so I rely on reference pictures.
| 16 I've got the frame established, now to do the motor.
|
17 The picture I had featured an ugly oil tank, so I used the gal to hide that.
| 18 After painting the rim, I add the rear sprocket. I'm having problems with my airbrush, so I rely on what people know about cycles and skip trying to paint the spokes on the wheel. Chances are they won't notice if it isn't pointed out to them.
| 19 Now I add the V-Twin. I freehand most of this because I'm in a rush.
| 20 I put them on a beach, since the shop is located in Florida.
|
21 I put in the water.
| 22 ...and of course, the mandatory palm tree.
| 23 Adding the fronds is a pain in the hand.
| 24 Here's a close up of the gal and bike.
|
25 The final product. After I mailed it out, I realized that I should have written in, " New Life For Old Wheels". That's why I'm not in advertising!
| 26 I add a couple of details to the front.I would have liked to give him a book titled, "How to customize your motorcycle in twelve hours or less" But my freehand skills are not that good, so I leave well enough alone.
