1 Although this is the last photo I took, I thought it'd make the best opening shot. It has the date and the event, what more do you need? Okay okay, it was starting to rain and a large chunk of the cars were leaving well in advanceof the six o'clock end time.
| 2 The last show at this venue I attended they charged an admission fee, this was a freebie. There were a few of vendors, but most of it was for food and drink. Like most of the shows I go to, there were a lot opf cars that were ho hum, b-o-r-i-n-g, so I didn't take shots of them. This was a basic resto, nothing fancy about it, but it was the first car once I got into the area, so I took a shot.
| 3 The military was represented.
| 4 Big rigs were also on display.
|
5 This had some wild graphics, but they looked better when the hood was down, and the view was partially obstructed.
| 6 I always liked the Chrysler Crossfire, but that was a dud in the popularity department. This was also like something you'd see in any parking lot at a movie theater, shopping mall, grocery store...you get the drift.
| 7 A vintage Tin Lizzy.
| 8 A custom RX7. I'm no fan of body kits. This one happened to be in nice shape, despite being red.
|
9 The "Goat" a vintage GTO. These were from the days when Pontiac was known for style and oomph under the hood.
| 10 The Tri-Power set up. Three two barrel carbs, they were fraught with problems and most guys eliminated them once aftermarket manifolds allowed them to use four barrel gas pumpers.
| 11 More Goats with their mouths open.
| 12 And a view from the other direction.
|
13 The Hooter girls made it across the street to spread the word of fried pickles in easy walking distance.
| 14 Finally a real hot rod!
| 15 You rarely ever see any custom Volvos.
| 16 A closer look...
|
17 ...and a peek under the hood.
| 18 As I said earlier, not a real lot of radical customs. Most were basic street machines.
| 19 Like that lead-in? This was a serious modification, but in my unwanted opinion, I think it'd be much more head-turing with some glossy paint.
| 20 Purple and green is combination that I see alot, but in my mind's eye, I don't think they compliment each other very well at all. Some nice scroll work tho...
|
21 Cut-out flames is a trend that's on the upswing. This is the third show this season where I've seen this mod on different vehicles.
| 22 I'd imagine that this must get some type of reinforcing, I'd hate to think of what regular hood gauge steel sounds like flapping in the breeze.
| 23 This guy also had a nice interior to make the ride more enjoyable. I saw this one on the way out and it was driving, NOT being trailered.
| 24 I like the way he formed the dashboard with wood. I don't like that he used a sheet of luan plywood, because the edges were in view. An A for effort but a C+ for execution.
