1 Snow Ivy and Edelweiss Russian Beaded Floral Necklace Introducing "Snow Ivy and Edelweiss", a lovely display of Russian beaded Ivy leaves with my rendition of Edelweiss flowers beaded in French style. The base began with a 20 gauge length of 14k Gold Filled wire. The Ivy leaves and flowers were each individually created and then wire wrapped onto the base. Each of the flowers is accented at the center with sea opal glass, a transparent glass with an opal white effect that lends some magic to the composition! The leaves are woven with Fine Brass wire such as was employed by several well known vintage designers. No name dropping here, but if you are curious to know, just email me. I adore sharing jewelry history. The tactile experience, when handling, the necklace is that of heavy lace. The floral work is not rigid, rather is delicately mobile with a life of it's own. The color of the beads in the flowers and leaves is carefully matched in a pearl white. The Fine Brass forms tiny veins of golden color at the centers of the leaves and th...

| 3 The Poet's Darling French Beaded Daisies Brooch William Wordsworth, in a poem titled, "To The Daisy", referred to this fair flower as the poet's darling, hence the name! Six lovely Daisies have been French beaded with white pearl glass beads, accented at centers with matte finished translucent yellow glass beads elegantly appointed with five fancy leaves of deep green glass. Two different techniques were used to create the daisies to add dimensions of heavier and lighter newer blooms. All of the beads are hand wired with techniques that date as far back as the 18th century possibly the 15th century, I am still doing research and building my library! It is a sizable piece of jewelry, my own original design, and measures 4 1/2 inches by 4 inches. The stems of the flowers are all floss wrapped and the bunch is embraced in a cluster by more white pearl glass beads at their stems. The pin clasp is wired into position for best functional position. The design, while delicate, is very well composed for durability and with gentle care wi...

| 5 Introducing new head model-Giselle! It is so hard to get a good picture of jewelry to post online. Most display models are created smaller than life size and do not give a correct impression of dimension/size. This head model is life size, bald(can be any hair color I choose with a wig) and has pierced ears! She also has nice fairly neutral makeup and false eye lashes for a really feminine and attractive presentation. I still haven't found THE perfect display model, but she is as close as I have been able to come to a manequin that serves well.

| 7 French Beaded Brooch Pink Puffs and Tufts A collage of many different elements wired onto filigree above and below an ornate buckle frame. French beaded flowers, crystals, glass pearls, filigree, pink opal glass beads...to much to name really.
| 8 French Beaded Brooch Pink Puffs and Tufts Back View lovely 10kt gold plated filigree conceals wire work and serves as a clean finish on the back. I have stamped a tiny "M" onto the pin clasp as an ID marker.
| 9 French Beaded Daisies More new work! Trying new techniques like the little round yellow pillbox shaped centers! Most of these patterns were originally published to use in household floral design work. I am developing smaller, more durable versions of those patterns to use in jewelry! Check in my album titled Technical Stuff for occasional tutorials!
| 10 Bougainvillea Inspired by Dalene Kelly's Bougainvillea pattern in her wonderful book titled, More French-Beaded Flowers, I used 15/0 beads for the leaves instead of 11/0 and I didn't make the tiny white flowers in the centers that she called for in her lovely pattern. I really try to use technique and create something original and personally inspired from what has been published. Transparent Ruby Rainbow Ornella beads size 11/0 are used for the flowers and cream pearl was used for the tiny center flowers that are wired onto burgundy wire. The burgundy wire leaves the cream flowers to appear as if they are floating above the flower centers. Also I made the flowers petals pointed top and slightly pointed bottom basic, rather than round bottom basic so the the flowers petals come together more closely.
| 11 Roses Fuchsia and Caladiums Group The reds in these are slightly more ruby in nature than I could capture, but these are my first Russian style beaded Caladiums adapted from a leaf pattern, three roses of matte finished ruby red beads for a velvety texture, and a stem of red and white Fuchsia from a pattern in an old out of print book called Bead Design by Ruth Wasley and Edith Harris. The Dutch Iris is an adaptation (meaning I made it smaller than the pattern suggested) for Dutch Iris found in a book titled Bouquets from Beads by Virginia Osterland. Richard's mother has a fondness for miniature Dutch Iris and grows them in her garden. She also captures them in watercolor, so these will be a Mother's Day Gift as soon as I add one more stem to make a trio.
| 12 Miniature Dutch Iris Miniature is misleading in this case as the flowers were not produced as miniatures. The flower heads spatial consume an area of approximately 3 inches by 3 inches which is quite a bit smaller than a full size Dutch Iris.
| 13 Hydrangea Brooch on Evening Dress Strap
| 14 Hydrangea Shoulder Brooch and Tiara This is a really unusual design fresh off of my work table. Hydrangea flowers and leaves have been beaded French Style. the piece of work is eight, yes 8 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide. It was designed to wear as a swag brooch across a shoulder but can also be used as a floral style tiara! I still need to add the pin clasps and do the final finished wrap on the wire worked base, but composition is complete and I am very excited about the new design so am sharing it a bit prematurely. Will post pictures of the back when I am done with it!
| 15 French Beaded Peach Roses Corsage Brooch Roses and buds in matte finished translucent peach are accented with pearl glass Baby's Breath, leaves, and a Russian style beaded leaf. A wonderful puffy peach bow accents the center and all of the stems are wrapped with a glossy green floss that has a metallic sheen. Overall size is six inches by three inches.

| 17 Vivian French and Russian Beaded Floral Corsage French Beaded flowers historically go back as far as the 18th century, and possibly the 15th century! I get varying historical data from various different publications. Collectibles of this historic art form have found their way into the collections of some very notable people! Russian beaded florals have sometimes been referred to as Victorian style beaded work, but the roots are undeniably vintage beading styles of Russia. All of my French and Russian beaded work has it's roots in vintage publications of books on this art that are now out of print. Those patterns have been altered in structure and size for stability and durability in my original, one of a kind jewelry compositions. This composition exhibits beaded flowers and leaves in both French and Russian styles. The Russian beading style adds a lot of texture and dimension as companion to the French beaded Style. The largest flower is of Delica 11/0 beads in Matte Light Rose color. Ivory and deep lavender 11/0 beads flourish...
| 18 Melissa French Beaded Rose Brooch White pearl glass beads have been French beaded into a Rose in full bloom with satin glass yellow stamens. Two green leaves of matte finished glass beads, puffs of white tulle, and a spray of borealis finished teardrops add color and texture. An S scroll of white lined transparent glass beads is a very French accent at the back and incorporates the pin clasp. Dimensions are 4 1/2 inches by 3 inches. This piece was particularly designed for the Houston Glass Arts Meetup Group and will be taught in a class for the group it was designed for.
| 19 Melissa French Beaded Rose Brooch Back Attendees of the class will be able to select their color for the design and many different types of embellishments will be discussed and available for ornamentation! An 18 page handout will be included in the workshop! References for many different suppliers for components will be included in the handout. Drawings will be held for a bead spinner provided by myself and for a beaded bracelet provided by Lydia Borin of Beadwranglers.com Several out of print books on French Beaded Flowers as well as more contemporary ones will be available for viewing. The class will be held on May 12th. To make sure that everyone gets all of the attention they need the class size has been limited to 7.
| 20 Titled NOSTALGIA French Beaded Jewelry In the style of early French beaded work I have created a new design titled, "Nostalgia". The center section collage measures 5 inches wide and 4 3/4 inches deep. Crystal set rondelles and ruby glass beads form the links with a Sterling 18K Gold Vermeil Clasp. Length is adjustable up to 20 inches. The earrings measure 1 1/2 inches by 1 inch and are ear clips. I used a very fancy style of facet of Swarovski ruby crystals for the earrings. How to go about describing components it difficult. I don't try to engage myself with this type of work often. I wait for the design to come to me. Then with a couple of bead spinners and hundreds of pounds of beads at my disposal...because I'm a bead gatherer bar none...I set down to the table with several different colors nearby and I wait for the design to speak to me. It's like a long slow meditative experience. I begin to create individual components. Piles of them. When I See enough leaves, flowers, etc.. to begin a construction I sta...
