To make things easier for editors and PR representatives wishing to review just my travel-related features, rather than my entire archive of more than 1,000 magazine features produced since 1989, I've placed many of my automotive adventure travel features in a separate portfolio. If you have any questions about any of these features, don't hesitate to call me at 951/229-2989 or write me directly at richtruesdell@gmail.com.

enlarge 1.25MB, 1191x794 1 Austria R&UV Ford GT Road Trip Fall 2023 This is the 12th major magazine feature I've published on my 2005 Dream Drive from London to Maranello and back in the then-new 2005 Ford GT. During this week I had the opportunity to the Ford GT at the Nurburgring and Le Mans. Some of the other features start with image 7.
This illustrates my ability to syndicate my own work into international markets outside North America. This story has been published in the US, UK, Austria (this placement in Rare & Unique Vehicles), the Netherlands, Germany, and Romania since 2006. With the trip's 20th anniversary coming up in 2025, I see opportunities after a rewrite, to start a new cycle of placements.

enlarge 1.55MB, 557x756 18 USA Corvette Enthusiast 2004 Corvette In Europe Quite honestly, this is what I want to be doing more of, authomotive-focused road trips with a theme and purpose, that are a bit out of the box. Like many auto US enthusiasts I've long wondered what it would be like to let a new Corvette loose on the autobah so while attending the 2004 Geneva Motor Show for Motor Trend Online, I arranged a vehilcle loan with with GM's Corvette and cadillac importer, Kroymann's, in The Netherlands and drove it from Amsterdam to Geneva and back, picking up one speeding ticket along the way. On the Autobahn between Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe I was able to get this particular Corvette up yo an indicated 182 MPH (at night) legally on an unsrestricted section of the A6 Autobahn, later documenting it in daytime, at 180 MPH although Corvette Enthusiast magazine decided against using that particular photograph, using a shot of the speedometer indicating "ONLY" 170 MPH.

enlarge 651KB, 695x921 43 UK Classic American Muscle Car Tour I believe this to be the best example of what I provide my editors, a universal concept that translates well in any language. The story was commissioned by Musclecar Enthusiast in the fall of 2002 and it took a while to assemble four representative muscle cars (one from each manufacturer; AMC, Chrysler, Ford and GM) and plan a day-long tour of car culture spots frequented by "car guys" back in the sixties, when classic American muscle cars rules street and strip. I think it's amazing that Classic American's art director Tony Crowther perfectly captured exactly what I was trying to say with this material, working with the same images as the other art directors, each who brought their own perspective to the piece.

White. This is the car driven by Dan Gurney and Brock Yates. Probably more than anything it shows how far both my writing and photography has come over the last 25 years.
