RATTITUDE!
Most of the pictures here are of my beautiful Rat Terrier, Nellis. Nellis is out of Usona's Mister and Gypsy. She was born 12/22/01. I had lost my beloved Rat Terrier Reno 2/15/02 (she lost her battle against Evans Syndrome, a hemolytic anemia) and I was going absolutely crazy with grief. I lasted one week before I started researching for another RT. The house was way too quiet! Roxanne Laing graciously answered my many emails and pretty soon we were driving to Mariposa to pick up my Nellis. Nellie, as we call her, is extremely intelligent, beautiful and full of mischief. You can't help but love her. Have fun looking at her pics along with her brother basenji Riggs (addendum: Riggs died 4/25/04), brother Nike the tuxedo cat and sister Midori, my daughter's loopy siamese. It's interesting to note that Nellis has killed 39 rats to date (12/2006).....but she knows a pet rat when she sees one and lets ours sniff her and root around in her ears. I would never leave them alone unsupervised, but it is very odd to see a Rat Terrier tolerate a pet Rat!
I've added pics of our newest addition, Sasha, our Decker Giant Rat Terrier. She's 4 years old as of 7/2/07 and ALLLLLL PUPPY.
My parents owned a Rat Terrier "Suzie" in the 1950s and she lived to 21 years of age! I think that's when I fell in love with the breed.
