The body of information on this technique (oil painting on sheet celluloid) is practically non-existent. This type of early celluloid, pre-dates the c.1910 cartoon animation use of celluloid. Further research into these paintings might perhaps uncover a lost-art technique since few examples would have survived the ages due to the combustibility and fragile nature of this type of celluloid.
