1 It's My Love Missouri Moonshine After Nona and Lowla died, we thought we wouldn't get anymore Chows. But I never stopped loving this breed and always looked at them on the internet. One day, I discovered pictures of chows that fit exactly into what I wanted in a chow...bred by Marina Ganicheva in Moscow, Russia. She volunteered to repeat a breeding for me and give me pick puppy. This was the start of my journey with Shine, who has been the sweetest chow we have ever had...and a beauty, don't you think?
| 2 Beautiful mother While COVID had everything shut down in 2020, and there were no dog shows, we bred Shine to Dreamland's Drive It Like U Stole It. She had 5 gorgeous, healthy puppies: 1 red boy, 1 red girl, 2 black boys, and a BLUE girl. She was a wonderful mother!
| 3 OUR NEWEST FAMILY We simply couldn't be without dogs for very long, so about a year after we lost our Chow Chow girls, we acquired 2 Cotons de Tulear...Bentley Bisu and JLo. (JLo is named after me.) Here we are on the Oregon Coast in the May 2015 being photographed by our wonderful and talented friend, Sandra Miller.
| 4 ICHI Ichi was our first Chow Chow, and she picked me to share her life. She was so sweet, she changed every idea I had about this breed. Ichi, unlike most Chows, performed several tricks, including a big sneeze when you asked if she had a bad cold. She wore her "boots" on hot pavement and knew she really looked cute that day at Lake Tahoe. She taught me how to communicate with animals, and was the gentle leader of our household for 17 years. She will always be first in my heart.
| 5 SHUGGAH Moonshines Pink Champagne, we loved her as SHUGGAH. This beautiful cinnamon Chow we bought to keep Ichi young, and at that she was a definite success. Though definitely show quality, she never liked the ring, Tom didn't like handling her, and she was "retired" after only 2 shows. Her SHUGGAH-sweet manner convinced us of the lovely temperment of Cross B-bred Chows, and we made sure our other Chows were from those lines. Shuggah died of bloat when she was only four. It broke our hearts...
| 6 THUD Cross B's Devil Made Me Do It, but we called him THUD, after the F-105 Thunderchief fighter aircraft my husband flew in the glory days of his wild youth. THUD was the only male Chow we have owned, and he was a gentle, sweet teddy bear. He died peacefully and gracefully in June, 2005. Everyday we had with him was a special gift. We miss him terribly!
| 7 CH CROSS B'S AHWATUKEE ARIZONA This is my beloved TUKEE...sun-speckled! She is my first--and last--show dog. She is titled as an International Champion and an American Champion, and I am privileged to have handled her myself in the ring. Now she enjoys life as a pampered family member. TUKEE's favorite sleeping position is with her chin elevated, so we actually built -- just for her -- a small, low "window" into a dividing wall when we remodeled our house. Pampered? I guess!
Four days shy of her 10th birthday, Tukee died in September, 2008.
| 8 CHOWWOW SHOW LOW ARIZONA Meet our LOWLA. She is one of the puppies from TUKEE's litter we couldn't part with. She looks so much like her Daddy, who's name is Barney, that we often call her our little Barnette. If LOWLA is awake, her fluffy plume of a tail is wagging...what a sweetheart! And with that coat, what a challenge to groom!
Lowla and 'Nona remained BFFs every single day of their lives, and they went, together, to the Rainbow Bridge on September 15, 2013.
| 9 CHOWWOW WINONA ARIZONA This is WINONA. You may notice we named the litter after cities and towns in Arizona. WINONA showed successfully and acquired championship points until Tom and I just became tired of the rat race of dog shows. She became our "Alpha bitch" after THUD left, and requests lots of petting and loving. "Nona" has acquired Ichi's skill in Inter-Species Communication, and she is particularly proficient at reading my mind...especially when I would like to keep my plans to myself!
| 10 TUKEE'S WINDOW I told you...
Tukee died in September, 2008. John, my friend and personal carpenter, asked if I wanted the window removed...OF COURSE NOT! Tukee's window occupies a constant place in my home as she will always occupy a constant place in my heart. Wait for me, Baby Girl. Wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge,
| 11 WHAT WILL I BE... This is TUKEE and baby LOWLA and is one of the sweetest puppy pictures we took. The five-week old baby seems to be communing with Mom, and I think she is saying, "When I grow up, what will I be?"
| 12 AUTUMN 2011 Lowla and 'Nona spied a pile of dry leaves on our walk. They jumped in, and Tom and I followed.

Hi Jan: Sandra Miller told me about you and that you were here in AZ also. I just wanted to drop you a line being a chow owner and lover myself. I live in Glendale AZ. Your site is most awesome and Love the chows pictures you have up on it. They are so lovely. If you get a chance, stop by my site and visit my newest additions to our home. We lost out other two about four years ago King and Sissy who lived to be 16 and 18 years of age. Anyway, just wanted to post a message to you and say Hello!
