Kitchen makeover
In 5 years (give or take) the house SHOULD be paid off.  At that time, I plan to take out a loan to totally remodel the kitchen.  I've wanted a new kitchen since we moved in nearly 10 years ago.  Well I can't take it any longer.  My "That 70's Show" set has to go!  Well, not completely.  I think I'm stuck w/the harvest gold appliances until the remodel.

To do:
paint cupboards - DONE
new hardware for cupboards - DONE (a couple doors to hang yet)
new backspash
paint walls - DONE
flooring - DONE
window treatments - DONE

Added to list:
counter top - coming along nicely
base board - almost done
cove (ceiling trim) - DONE

Other things we did:
new cooktop
painted appliances
changed all outlets and switches
new cover plates for outlets and switches
light over kitchen table area

I had wanted to keep it at or below $2,000.  I was really close, even with the cooktop, before we decided on doing the counter top and cove ceiling.  I'm not sure yet what will go around the cooktop area... either formica again, or possibly tile.  We can't use the backsplash material because it is plastic.  *update:  Found metal to match the plastic to go around cooktop area, it's on order.  More stuff to think about!  But we won't be too far over, and it will look awesome!

We also got a new microwave and a new sink and faucet... so the sink will be stainless instead of white, and the faucet is brushed instead of chrome.  Everything will match well.  :)
