On my way home I detoured and went to Harbor Blvd to take some pictures last Monday. The 'harvest' was richer than anticipated.
The skyline is changing, art in the form of 'potted' sculptures lines the path along Harbor Blvd. and a lot of it is from good to exceptional.
Anthony's 'Fishette' still has reasonably priced seafood, wine and beer with an awesome view. I stopped there just as I used to a few decades ago when sailing on the bay, stopping at the only place with a dock, bath rooms where the food and beverages were cheap just as they are now. The Margaritas were the most popular drink back then ...
...enough reminiscing, the pictures are NOW and the sunset, after the 'Fishette' visit did not hurt my photo harvest at all. I even took the same subjects in different lighting and mood conditions. Enjoy

Heinz - thanks for sharing the shots...I'm sending these to friends and family...San Diego is always nice, regardless of whatever political scandal is on the horizon. John - John Campbell, Wed, 30 Apr 2008 1:39PM
Heinz: Great photos - thanks. I will be e-mailing your photos to my children, who grew up in San Diego but are all living East of the Rockies, to remind them what it is that they are currently missing. - Dennis Patrick Wood, Wed, 30 Apr 2008 5:00AM
Dinghis in the foreground, the boats they serve in the middle and the bustling, growing skyline in the background.
Panorama without the dinghis ;-)
continuing the panorama to the East
Hotels and condo high-rises dominate the waterfront.
Panning through the masts a little inland, we spot some office buildings along with the 'short commute' condos.
As you can see, it is getting 'dense' downtown!
With more additions by the year, if not month.
Another dinghy fore ground, bouit middle and NAS North Island in the background.
See how the dinghis make a great counterpoint?!
Boats and trees frame our city very nicely too.
Different boats expanded background same benefits.
.. even the ramp to the dinghy dock works for that.
The 'old' man on the bench, the box-art in the planter and the new construction cranes in the lofty background tell a good old to new story.
The figure in the sculpture is pointing skyward over the "Inspiration Hornblower"
San Diego and nobody talks about 'FISHING'? Hello!! It's the home of tuna sport fishing!
This sculpture fit exactly between the windows of the 'Inspiration Hornblower' and they appear to give it WINGS!
The San Diego Maritime Museum from the 'Airport' side shows off the Berkeley, the steam yacht 'Medea', a two master, a support vessel and even a submarine, of course you can spot the sails of the 'Star of India' and the masts of the tall ship.
The catepillar eats his way to the top of the stalk of the sculpture in front of the museum.
The tall ship is protected by this shielded "Aztec" (Judging by the helmet) but unlikely for a 'Down-Under-Training-Ship'.
Maritime Museum from the South.
A Surfer Sculpture against the sails of the Star of India.
I caught these trumpet players in action more than once, this is from the Fishette boat dock.
Condos, Rith Chris' and the old Harborside hotel.
The same theme but including the trumpet player and the boat at the dock.
Here's the trumpet players as I saw them eating my dinner and quaffing a beer. The reflections almost give it sound and motion.

An Americas Cup Class sailboat of years gone by sailing in San Diego Bay. It carries a 'Swiss' motto, is it possible that Zurich is riding on the coat tail of Geneva's Alinghi???
The mood of this sculpture was serene and a romantic couple was sitting at its bottom. I had to shoo this 'by itself' picture first ...
... but the sunset, the couple under it at Anthony's on the far right is one of the better pictures I've had the pleasure of capturing.
Not exactly a 'slouch' to follow, this may give you an incentive to explore the vistas of Harbor Blvd in the late afternoon.
You may not be quite as lucky as I was, but walking a few miles from the Coast Guard to Broadway Pier .. or beyond will expose you to the waterfront of San Diego. Yup, thats the sub, .. on the right.
Pretty cool sunset, huh??
I'm sure the folks on that 'Harbor Excursion' got their money's worth!
Tall Ship, Sub 'n sunset!
...and here's the same theme in a vertical format!
