Going back down. This was July 4, and there were a lot of people climbing the mountain.

This was taken from the parking lot of a rest area on the way to our charter fishing trip

This was our boat. You can see the ladder we used to climb aboard.

These huge tractors launch the boats in the water. The boat is on its trailer and they hitch to it and back us about 75 feet, or more, into the water until the boat floats off the trailer.

Let me tell you ... bringing these bad boys in is no easy task. The good looking guy is our boat captain, Mike.

This is Mount Redoubt which erupted several times in March 2009. It was the constant, and beautiful, backdrop to our halibut fishing trip.

Halibut. The other side of the fish is brown with both eyes on the same side, like a flounder.
"That's odd on the eyes. How much do these weigh?"

I was wiped out/tired after the trip. Matt is steadying me.

These are the filets off just one of our halibuts. The tiny piece you can see is from below the eye and is supposed to be the best part of the fish.

While shopping at an REI store in Anchorage, we ran across a young man who has lived in this old Volvo for over six years. There was duct tape all over the car and also all over the guys pants.
