Yamaha SG1500
If your looking for a Les Paul but don't have the big bucks …check out the Yamaha SG1500. Most of the information I have found regarding this guitar states that the SG 1500 has “dot” markers” and no coil taps. This one seems to have features found in the SG 2000 It’s reminiscent of a Les Paul but plays a lot better than most. Santana used to play a similar model before he got into the PRS thing. The two high-output Humbucking pickups are without active electronics , with push-push coil taps. Body is Solid Honduras Mahogany. Three-piece neck-through construction. The body and neck are bound in white. The frets are well dressed, showing little wear. The neck is straight and the action is set at a comfortable height without losing the natural sustain. Unique MOP inlays. The finish is beautiful. … it definitely is not real shiny and thick looking as a lot of poly finishes. Gold hardware… Some of the gold finish has faded from the stop tailpiece. Overall, the workmanship is every bit as good as a Gibson LP, and probably better than many… the belly-sculpted back is very comfortable to play. one of the most famous solidbody electrics of the 1970s, admired for its simple layout and stupendous tone. .. solid mahogany body, neck-through construction with attractive pearl inlays and a pair of powerful Alnico V humbuckers rich in depth, sustain.
In addition to the three-way selector, each pickup can be coil split, giving a total of eight different, high-quality sounds. With versatility like that, you know this is an instrument that will do the business convincingly across many musical styles.
