Vintage Silvertone by Danelectro 1457 amp-in-case
This auction is for a vintage 1964 Silvertone (made by Danelectro for the Sears catalog) 1457 amp-in case model guitar.
This particular model is much more desirable than the previous model, as this set features a 2 pickup guitar and 5 watt amp (as opposed to single pickup ¾ Model 1488 guitar with 3 watt amp).
The guitar is in good condition for its age. There are lots of little nicks and light scratches. The tips of the head are chipped
Guitar features:
-4/4 scale 21-fret fingerboard of Brazilian rosewood -Dual pickups let you switch from full deep tones to sharp, treble tones.
-2 volume, 2 tone controls (concentric pots) -Solid-center body.
-Sunburst red finish with sparkling silver color accents. The vinyl on the sides have some reglued rough spots.
Case/Amp features:
-5 watt 6v6 based amp with
-Original 8” Jensen speaker and
-All original tubes!
-Two inputs for two guitars
-Rockin’ vintage tube vibrato, controllable by footswitch (not included).
The amp/case is in excellent condition. It functions perfectly, and sounds vintage-ey and sweet. The outside corners are down to the hardboard in a few spots, but overall an excellent example of the model.
