1950s Magnatone Triple Neck 8 string Electric Lap Steel
All original. Excellent condition.
Given its age, this guitar is in amazing condition.
This instrument is constructed entirely of walnut and maple, which give it an amazing amount of earthy tone and vibe.
Each of the three necks include two pickups, their own separate On/Off switch, one volume control, and one "blend" (between pickups) control.
This auction includes the guitar, legs, and the original hard shell case (see photo). The case is in VG condition, with minor vinyl peeling on the bottom (see photo). The case features a beautiful blue interior.
It appears that someone used different legs at some point during this guitar's lifetime. The holes for said mystery leg brackets still exist; see our hi-res photo for details. This is a minor cosmetic issue. It's on the bottom!
Also, someone has written the initials "C. Glass" in pencil behind each of the three necks.
The original headstock covers (made of walnut) are beautiful artifacts of a different time. A very functional "snap" design is still effective after all these years. Simply slide the covers off for easy access to the tuning machines (see photo).
We believe this instrument was made between 1951 and 1958. The serial number badge reads "53845".
We also believe this to be either model "2495" or "95". |
