W. F. Gerecke, Miami, Florida, U.S. W. F. Gerecke was a Miami photographer who, like C.H. Price of England, was in the right place at the right time to take photographs and make Real Photo postcards of the airport near where he lived. He was the most prolific photographer at the Pan American Airways sea base in Miami during the 1930's. His cards are high quality and most are not that expensive. His earliest postcards have hand written captions on the front of the card. There are some scarce to rare ones in that group. They generally have high image numbers printed with the captions. Soon he switched to a more formal block letter text system for the captions using lower numbers with the images. Some images are available in both types. There are some instances where the hand written text and the block text versions have the same number. There were two different Real Photo card stocks used for the Gerecke postcards. Most common are the cards with the DOPS stamp box on the back of the cards. Some cards also come with an EKC stamp box on the back of the cards. They are probably a second print run for that particular card. This album only shows the Real Photo postcards by Gerecke. There are some Linen and Black and White Litho cards using Gerecke images also. They are shown in the Miami Airport and PAA Flying Boat albums. |

Walter Hahn, Dresden, Germany Walter Hahn was a well known and dedicated photographer in Dresden, Germany the 1930's and 1940's. There is a museum in Dresden, Germany showcasing his photographs. Fortunately for airline collectors he made a number of Real Photo postcards with high quality images showing aircraft and views at airports. His early cards show the captions below the images in white against a black background. They are very striking postcards. |

C. H. Price, Croydon, England C. H. Price was a photographer from Croydon, England who was basically in the right place at the right time during the early days of commercial aviation in England. The Croydon Aerodrome was the main airport for London and C. H. Price was there and photographed many different airlines flying in and out of London as well as the Croydon Aerodrome itself. His photos are high quality and popular with collectors. I have a decent selection of his cards but there are approximately 120 different ones and I have no where near that number. In my opinion he is the most important photographer to make postcards of the early days of air travel. His cards are numbered in the captions on the front of the cards which is nice for collectors. I have attempted to list the cards in the order they were issued. The various postcard backs I've seen are at the end. For cards that have been mailed and have a readable postmark they are shown next to the card front. |

Unusual Photographs Reproduction Co. This company was from New York City and mainly did postcard views of New York City. For what ever reason they decided to do some cards of early airliners using photos they acquired from the airline companies. They probably figured they could sell them along side their New York views at airports in New York. In any case they are a scarce group of cards with great images of early aircraft. The company they acquired each photo from is referenced on the front of the postcard. They are all Real Photo postcards, printed in Germany, and are numbered on the front of the card. There are a number of cards I don't have. All the cards are scarce to rare. |
