"I'm packed! Can we go now?"

Let me introduce Sidney, an irrepressible penguin with itchy webbed feet and a well developed sense of the absurd.

"On the road again..."

We are off to Edmonton to visit relatives and friends and check out any ice cream and candy stores we encounter along the way.

"Are we there yet?" No, we are still in Manitoba. We have to cross another province before we get to Edmonton.

Welcome to Inglis, Manitoba. The five grain elevators in Inglis have been designated a National Historic Site. They are slowly being restored.

Sidney, it seems, has an affection for grain elevators. He mentioned something about grain elevators reminding him of ice ridges back home.

See, the sides of a grain elevator annex have some sort of a resemblance to ice ridges.

Here are the five elevators in Inglis. It looks like four elevators because the second elevator from the left is a double (two separate grain elevators joined as a single building). We think Sidney is around the back somewhere checking out the railroad grain car.

Here is a better view of the double elevator. The vehicle doors at right center cross the weigh stations for both elevators. Still no sign of Sidney.

Off to search for Sidney around the railroad car.

"Are we there yet?" No. We are still a province away.

While in Saskatoon, Sidney wanted a picture next to the Holiday Inn courtesy van. We attribute it to that well developed sense of the absurd.

At the front desk of the Holiday Inn in Saskatoon. First a close shot of the three friends. Then ...

... a wider shot. The desk clerk thought she was safely out of the picture.

Sidney acquired some souvenirs along the way in Lloydminster. We couldn't find any interesting ice cream stores there, so we settled for Ice Caps at Tim Hortons. Everybody (including Sidney) was happy with that.
