SEEING THE PUFFINS!

A Large colony of Puffins can be found on the Treshnish Isles.
The Treshnish Isles consist of many VERY small land masses.
These small islands are located in a 7 mile area just off of the larger Isle of Mull.
The Isle of Mull is located near the coastal town of Oban in west Scotland.

To see the puffins we left from Iona which is located at the far end of Isle of Mull. While in Iona we visited the famous Iona Abby, birth place of Christianity and the burial place of some of Scotland's ancient kings. (CLICK HERE to see our photos of Iona Abbey.)

From Iona we prescheduled a tour that took us to the Treshnish Isles.

We will never forget our puffin tour. IT WAS BY FAR THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP TO SCOTLAND

This is the tour boat coming to take us to the Treshnish Isles. We had taken a ferry to the Isle of Mull, a bus trip to the tip end of Mull, then this boat to for our Puffin tour.	We were VERY lucky the sea was very calm. There had been a storm the day before.	leaving on our small tour boat.	Our tour guide on the right. He knew a lot about the Isles.	Here we are on the boat. I was surprised none of us got sick, even me. The sea was that calm.
Looking for Puffins. We are getting close to the Isles. The boat ride took about 40 minutes from the Isle of Mull.	Cheri watching for puffins too. She was also excited.	Here we are where our boat stopped, right next to the shore. We had to climb out and up.	Dennis and Cheri got out in front of me (Candy).	Dennis walking over the jagged rocks.
Then after a 10 minute walk we came to a clearing which took us about 5 minutes to pass through.	looking back down from the puffin's mountain	WHERE THE PUFFINS ARE!	looking down at our boat that was parked waiting for us.	We came to the puffins! LOTS OF PUFFINS!!
YES, WE WERE ABLE TO GET THIS CLOSE TO THE PUFFINS.	This little guy was so cute!	LOOK AT THE FISH SHE HAS! She is taking the fish to her baby.	PUFFIN IN HER NEST.	Another PUFFIN WITH FOOD!
