Breeders "Victims of an agenda"
I am a concerned citizen and am ashamed the way in which today’s society and journalists have a desire to sensationalize the perception of wrong doing and villainize another person, without, doing their homework. Our society will quickly form opinions without knowing all the facts or have any regard for the permanent damage we may inflict upon others. There is good and bad within every profession from our preachers to our police, but, at what point in time did we feel entitled to become judge, jury and executioner? Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged
Here are facts pertaining to BREEDERS, SHELTERS, and RESCUES in hopes to clear up animal rights activists myths.
Did you know, the term “Puppy mill“, in fact, has no legal definition and was deemed (by Missouri supreme court) to be only an OPINION? Animal rights (AR) activists only use the derogatory term “puppy mill” with the intent to discredit legitimate breeders by using false accusations of filth, neglect and abuse in order to create a negative image in your mind to influence opinion.
Did you know, RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS all, in fact, have to keep animals in “cages”? All animals must be confined (pen/cage/run/crate/yard/house) for the animal’s safety and to abide by state leash laws. BREEDERS have to meet space requirements to acquire and keep a license. Most RESCUES/SHELTERS do not have any space requirements.
Did you know RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS all, in fact, have expenses that are occurred as a business such as veterinary fees, medications, food, equipment, employees, advertising, groomers, etc..? BREEDERS do not receive grants, volunteers, discounted services or donations to help with these expenses, therefore, requiring a higher recovery fee. RESCUES/SHELTERS usually receive grants, volunteers, discounted services, and donations to help with these expenses, therefore, requiring a lower recovery fee. It is necessary for any business to recover expenses.
Did you know RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS all, in fact, are in the business of placing pets in forever homes by providing and selling pets to the public? BREEDERS offer an animal with a guarantee for health, temperament, and heritage for a fee (sale). RESCUES/SHELTERS offer an animal without a guarantee for health, temperament, and heritage for a fee (adoption/rehoming/donation). You only “rescue” or “save “an animal when you pick it up off the side of the road or pull it from a burning building. If you had to give one cent or any type of compensation in order to acquire that pet, you in fact purchased it. You adopt a child, you buy a dog. Think about it.
Did you know RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS can, in fact, purchase/buy or otherwise obtain animals for resale? BREEDERS have to pay state/federal taxes and collect sales tax on their fees. RESCUES/SHELTERS do not have to pay state/federal taxes or collect sales tax on their fees.
Did you know there, in fact, is no longer an overpopulation of dogs in the USA? In 1972 we euthanized, 26 million animals, in 2011, 3 million (75% were cats), and in 2016, we only 1.3 million of which 670,000 were dogs. https://www.aspca.org/animal-homelessness/shelter-intake-and-surrender/pet-statistics
Did you know RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS can, in fact, import animals from other states/countries for sale? Animal activist who state “for every breeder puppy that sold a shelter animal is killed” is false as they fail to disclose that in 2016, “rescues” imported over 300,000 dogs for sale from other countries, far exceeding the 282,464 available USDA breeder puppies. BREEDERS have a set of guidelines for proper transport (cage size, heat/air, health certificates, food/water, clean up). Most RESCUES/SHELTERS do not have any requirements except for a health certificate. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. http://www.thedogplace.org/SHELTERS/Shelter-Imports_Witouski-102.asp
Did you know RESCUES/SHELTERS/BREEDERS can, in fact, breed animals for the purpose of producing offspring for sale? BREEDERS plan most breeding’s, pay for the breeds that are chosen for health, temperament and quality. RESCUES/SHELTERS that do breed, have no investment in the random sourced animals and cannot plan breeding’s or pick animals for health, temperament or quality. Let Him Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone. http://www.aspcapro.org/blog/2013/05/23/where-will-puppies-come
Did you know most RESCUES/SHELTERS are not required to follow any type of USDA regulations for proper care and without any guidelines, some could, in fact, meet the public’s opinion of the filth neglect/abuse of a “puppy mill”? There has been as many, if not more, animal cruelty raids on “rescues” than “puppy mills” in 2016. Many “rescues” do not have any type of license or a 501c3 status (Have you ever asked to see proof?) and are selling animals illegally. https://www.aspca.org/news/breaking-aspca-assists-rescue-nearly-600-animals-neglect-unlicensed-nc-facility
Did you know that most animal rights activists are in violation of the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act and their agenda today, in fact, is to annihilate any legitimate BREEDER that has more than 5 animals? They practice fascism by using phrases like “adopt don’t shop” and reference BREEDERS as “puppy mills” with the intent to convince the public that RESCUES/SHELTERS should be the only source for the sale of public pets. While it is a noble gesture, limiting BREEDERS to how many animals they can possess and raise, has the same premise as telling a farmer how many cattle he can have in his field, by taking away our rights to free enterprise as Americans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Enterprise_Terrorism_Act
Do you know the difference between Animal Rights Vs Animal Welfare? Nobody wants to knowingly enable a business to house or care for animals in a manner that would meet the public’s opinion of a “puppy mill”. The heartbreaking tragedy to animal welfare is that under the current laws, only the animals of a licensed BREEDER are mandated and regulated for providing proper care, while, RESCUES/SHELTERS are not, even though they both engage in the same companion animal enterprise. http://realanimalwelfare.com/animal-rights-vs-animal-welfare/
This is America, and as Americans, we have the right to choose a permanent family member, from either noble licensed business of a RESCUE/SHELTER or a BREEDER. Not every breed of animal is suitable for everybody, nor is everybody suitable to care for every “rescue” animal. We have the right to choose, without guilt, to ADOPT OR SHOP, same as we have the right to choose a new Mercedes or a used Ford.
Everybody has the right to their opinion on whether or not you personally approve of another man’s legal profession however, after being enlightened with facts, are all BREEDERS, in your opinion, “puppy mills” by practicing and engaging in horrific acts of cruelty, or victims of an agenda, as their only crime is providing puppies for the public same as the RESCUES/SHELTERS? Judgements are a confession of character.
Please apply your passion for animal welfare instead of supporting animal activists, so that anyone who receives any type of compensation (adoption fee, sale) to be held to a higher standard and be mandated to follow the same defined standards of care designed for BREEDERS. Regardless of the number or location, all companion animals deserve at least defined basics of proper care. Correct a Fool and He will Hate you. Correct a Wiseman and He will Appreciate you. http://imageevent.com/devildeliteskennels/rescues/illegalrescues | Album by Angela Shubert. 1 - 1 of 1 Total. 339 Visits. |
