The Golden Falcons of Gulf Air 9/23 Gulf Aviation began as a sightseeing service by British Aviator Freddy Bosworth, operating an Avro Anson. The growth in oil  company charters led to the aquisition of a DeHavilland Dove in 1951, and later scheduled services between cities with a Heron. By 1968 F-27s entered service, with a particular focus on quality cabin service. BOAC had acquired controlling interest in the company in 1951, but in 1973 the four Arab governments acquired the company. The growth was rapid based on flourishing oil economies, and a clear emphasis on premium service that continues today. Following are cards illustrating their fleet development through the years. 1 Gulf Aviation BAC-111-400 A splendid Gulf aviation issue of one of their 2 BAC-11-400s 2 Gulf Air BAC-111-400 This JJ issue features G-AXBB later A40-BB, wearing the new Gulf Air colors. It was a BAC lease aircraft that served for 3 years 3 Gulf Air VC-10-1100 #1 The rapid expansion of Gulf Air led to the acquisition of 5 ex BOAC VC-10-1112s in 1974. This is a nice over-length Gulf Air issue 4 Gulf Air VC-10-1100 #2 Also a Gulf Air issue from 1975 5 Gulf Air VC-10-1100 #4 KCF This Vita Nova issue, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu, is a much better image. 6 Gulf Air VC-10-1100 #5 KCF A splendid historical issue from Gulf Air, kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu. 7 Gulf Air VC-10-1100 #3 A very nice Aviation Hobby Shop issue featuring the VC-10 in the Golden Falcon Colors. 8 Gulf Air 737-200 #1 By June of 1977, Gulf Air began receiving 9 new 737-2P6s. This over-length Gulf Air Issue was detached from a promotional item. 9 Gulf Air 737-200 #2 A standard Gulf Air issue with back in English and Arabic. 10 Gulf Air 737-200 #3 This Gulf Air issue features A40-BE, delivered new in July 1977. it served for 17 years before going to LAPA of Argentina. It's final service was with Mandala from 2000-2006. Card has technical details on back 11 Gulf Air 737-200 #4 A beautiful in flight Gulf Air Issue 12 Gulf Air 737-200 #5 Another Gulf Air issue with data on back 13 Gulf Air 737-200 #6 This excellent view from Aviation Hobby Shop, features A40-BC, the first new 737 delivered to Gulf Air in Jun of 1977. In 1994 it went to Casino Express, and was ultimately written off in a landing accident at Atlanta while flying for AirTran in 1998 14 Gulf Air 737-200 #7 Another Gulf Air issue, some data on back 15 Gulf Air Tristar #1 A great Gulf Air issue of A40-TY, their first 200 model, delivered in 1976. It went to Arrow Air in 1996, WQFU in 2002 16 Gulf Air Tristar #2 Gulf Air issue with data on back 17 Gulf Air Tristar #3 Gulf Air issue, with "Five Star Tristar" designation on back 18 Gulf Air Tristar #4 A nice Vita Nova issue of the "Five Star Tristar" 19 Gulf Air Tristar #5 Very nice Gulf Air issue, showing A40-TW, wearing its original registration of G-BDCW. It, too became an Arrow Air aircraft in 1996 20 Gulf Air Tristar #6 A nice landing view, Gulf Air issue 21 Gulf Air Tristar #8 MDS An outstanding Take off view of the Tristar, a Gulf Air issue, Kindly shared by Mario DaSilva 22 Gulf Air Tristar #9 MDS This very nice Skilton issue features A-40-TX landing. Delivered new in Feb 1976, it served 20 years before sale to Arrow. Card by courtesy of Mario DaSilva 23 Gulf Air Tristar #7 One final over-length Gulf Air Issue.  The Tristars served Gulf Air for 20 years from 1976-96 24 Gulf Air 747-200 #1 MDS In March of 1984 Gulf Air leased this 747-2B4BF Freighter. It went to British in Nov 1985. A Buchair issue, kindly shared by Mario DaSilva 25 Gulf Air 767-300 in 1988, Gulf Air received the first of 20 new 767-3P6 ERs. Shown on this splendid Gulf Air issue is A40-GF, delivered in June. It flew only 6 years and was sold to Pegasus Aviation. 26 Gulf Air 767-300 #2 KCF This rare Gulf Air issue, shared by Kuo-Chiung Fu features the same airliner. 27 Gulf Air 767-300 #3 KCF A rare and outstanding postcard view of the 767-300 in "Gulf Traveler" colors, kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 28 Gulf Air A-320 #2 KCF Gulf Air Began taking delivery of A-320s in May of 1992, ultimately acquiring 26. This one, A40-EH was delivered in 1993, and went to LTE International in 2006. Gulf Air issue, kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 29 Gulf Air A-320 #3 KCF Another beautiful view of A40-EH on an Airbus issue 30 Gulf Air A-320 Ultimately Gulf Air operated 26 aircraft. This beautiful image is an Airbus issue in the beautiful new colors 31 Gulf Air A-340-300 The A-340-312 joined the fleet in May of 1994. This Australian office issue features A40-LA, the 1st A-340 delivered. It went to Sabena in 1998 32 Gulf Air A-340-300 #2 KFC A very nice Gulf Air issue of their A-340, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 33 Gulf Air A-340-300 #3KCF A rather unusual portrayal of the 340 on another Gulf Air issue, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 34 Gulf Air A-340-300 #5KCF A-40-LE, shown on this OKC issue, was delivered in October of 1985. It served until 2010, and was sold for parts. A sort lived color scheme. Card kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 35 Gulf Air A-340-300 #4KCF The 340 shown in the breathtaking new scheme on a Gulf Air issue, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 36 Gulf Air A-340-300 #6KCF This stunning A-340, A9CLE  was put in service in 1997, serving for ten years before wfu in 2007. parted out in 2012.  A Skyward issue, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu. 37 Gulf Air A-330-243 #2KCF The A-330-243 aircraft was first delivered to Gulf Air in June 1999. A Gulf Air issue showing delivery colors. 38 Gulf Air A-330-200 #1 KCF 39 Gulf Air A-330-300 #1 This excellent Airbus issue shows the A-330-243 in current Gulf Air Colors. First delivered in June 1999, the airline operated 10 aircraft. 40 Gulf Air A-330-300 #2KCF A-40 KA is shown on this Gulf Air issue. It was wfu in 2019 and broken up. 41 Gulf Air A-330-300 #3KCF One final Gulf Air issue shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 42 Gulf Air 777-300 #1 KCF In 2009, Gulf air leased 4 777-300s. this is an absolutely spectacular view of VT-JEG, shared by Kuo-Ching Fu. A Collection Villain Issue 43 Gulf Air ERJ-170 #1 KCF In 2010, Gulf Air acquired 2 ERJ-170LR aircraft, operating them only for 2 years.  This great N CEWE issue is kindly shared by Kuo-Ching Fu 44 Gulf Air A-320 Neo KCF An excellent publisher issue of the 320 Neo,  shared by Kuo-Ching Fu. 45 Gulf Air 787-9 #1 KCF A splendid postcard view of a Gulf Air 787-9 airliner in flight.
