Bolt and washer installed to hold quill gear in place

Install dial indicator and measure end play

Add shims to obtain .010-.015 end play

After end play is set and bolts are tight bend lock tabs

Check PTO drive gear splines for wear and replace if necessary or in doubt

Install new seal in PTO gear

Grease seal and shaft and slide gear over input shaft and all the way back

Install new seal in release bearing/PTO gear carrier

Install new o-ring on carrier

Grease shaft, seal and bearing carrier and slide all the way back in place over shaft and tighten bolts

Install realeas bearing, fork and shaft and tighten bolts

Install new o-rings on jumper tubes and push into housing flush or more

Layout the lower countershaft gears in their proper order

Slide lower shaft through hosuing and start sliding gears back on shaft as it goes through

This is about where you want it to be to put the first (TA) gear on the shaft. Some later transmissions will use a splined spacer washer that goes on first

Install tab washer and apply some loctite to threads and a little Moly GN paste to back of nut and torque to 300 LBS. The GN paste will help keep the washer from turning with the nut and ripping the tang that goes in the groove.

Posision gears for mainshaft in their approximate location.

Get the mainshaft ready to slip into gears from the hole in the rear

After tightening bolts in mainshaft bearing hang housing assembley from hoist

Position into place while aligning shafts and tighten mounting bolts

Thats it. Now you can install the cover and roll the rearend back in to place
