SEMPER FI 1
Semper Fi 1 is a team of volunteers who provide Military Honors to veterans of all services at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.

On 12 April I had the great priviledge of visiting SF 1 where I photographed their activities of the morning.  First, the Marines & Sailors (Navy Corpsmen who served with Marines) gather before the first service of the day.  Next, the team meets for rehearsal at their CP (Command Post), including proper folding of the flag, the 3 volley gun salute and all the details involved in the ceremony.

The first service of the day begins with arrival of the team, movement into assigned places, arrival of relatives and guests, rendering of honors, Taps, rifle volley salute, folding and presentation of the Colors, and finally the withdrawal of the Honors Detail.

Members of SF 1 routinely perform for 4 to 5 veteran services daily, sometimes as many as 12.  Their service is purely voluntary with each member bearing the expenses of uniforms, travel, etc.  SF 1 is not funded by the government and welcomes the support of the public.  For details, visit their website @: www.againtheyserve.org

Thanks for providing this great service to departed Marines and their surviving friends and relatives.  I have given the info to my family,  and hopefully they will contact you when I am gone.  It would be an honor to have you at my service.  I live in Menifee and plan to have my remains placed at the Riverside National Cemetary.  God Bless you all.  Semper Fidelis!

Colonel: We take care of our own. Showing honor to another Marine at the end of his life tells everyone who we are. This is our brotherhood, tradition is our goal, respect is a given. Great pictures thanks you for including Rebecca and I.

One of the best set of Marine pictures that I have had the Pleasure of being able to enjoy.
I only wish that I could have been there to enjoy the Pipes. The SgtMaj in full dress looked outstanding.
I have my own kilt but not the Dress Blue Blouse. I wear the SS Shirt with Ribbons only.
