SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO ADOPTS 1/11 MARINES
On this beautiful summer evening, Marines from 1/11 (1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) joined by band members from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, participated in a ceremony celebrating the adoption of 1/11 by the City of San Juan Capistrano.
The 11th Marines are the artillery regiment for the 1st Marine Division.
These images attempt to capture the flavor of the evening beginning with the early arrivals and continuing to the reception honoring Marines at the El Adobe Inn, a famous landmark in the city and once a great favorite of President Richard Nixon.
A number of near duplicates and some marginal shots are included to more fully record the full range of the evenings activities.
