MARINE CORPS CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY

"COMMANDER U.S. MARINE CORPS FORCES CENTRAL COMMAND AND COMMANDING GENERAL I MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE WELCOMES YOU TO THE CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY AT WHICH LIEUTENANT GENERAL THOMAS D. WALDHAUSER WILL RELINQUISH COMMAND OF U.S. MARINE CORPS FORCES CENTRAL COMMAND TO LIEUTENANT GENERAL ROBERT B. NELLER AND WILL RELINQUISH COMMAND OF I MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE TO LIEUTANANT GENERAL JOHN A. TOOLAN, JR. ON 7 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA"

Photographs are presented in order, beginning with the gathering of guests and concert by the band prior to the beginning of the ceremony which is described in the sequence of events in image #15. Image #16 shows the Adjutant on post just after "Sound Attention."

General James F. Amos, Commandant of The Marine Corps, and Mrs. Amos were among the many distinguished guests and General Officers attending the ceremony.

Beautiful ceremony pictures. I was viewing the album as a reference for II MEF Change of Command this Friday at Camp LeJeune. My brother, LtGen Robert F. Hedelund "Bob" will be in command.

BB - so nice to see you in several photos. So glad we saw you recently. Never fail to appreciate how many hours you devote to get these photos done and your devotion to the cause. Most of all, that all these Marines give so much, in too many cases, their lives. It's all good - MJ

Great album. Colonel. Never saw so many stars. Back in the day, we would have worn Summer Service Able and not Utilities for a ceremony such as this. These guys look a lot more comfortable, though.

Fred, for several years now ceremonies on the base are almost always camo utilities. It takes a lot of time to dress in either Summer Service A or dress blues plus more time to get back into the duty uniform. Training is ongoing and there is a war mentality in the daily routine. When the situation calls for it Marines of the 1st Division will outshine anybody in dress blue appearance. S/F, BB

As usual, a great job by the Col. Dory says that photo 108 is the best looking Marine of all. I can't say I agree though.
