LAGUNA HILLS ADOPTS 3D BN 5TH MARINES
Laguna Hills, California adopted 3/5 (3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) in August 2007. The formal ceremony had to wait until September 2008 since 3/5, known as The Darkhorse Battalion, and whose motto is "Get Some" deployed to Iraq shortly after the adoption.
These images follow the sequence of events, which begins with display of equipment and weapons, arrival of the 1st Marine Division Band, a brief ceremony beginning with comments by Mayor Allan Songstad of Laguna Hills and Major Brian Heatherman, Executive Officer of 3/5, followed by a "Pass In Review" and finally lunch and refreshments for Marines and guests.
