JULY 4TH, 2006 - HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA
The largest July 4th parade west of the Mississippi is held in Huntington Beach, California, and has been an annual celebration now for over 100 years!
Early in 2005 the city adopted the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, "The Thundering Third." 2006 marks the second year that 3/1 Marines & Sailors have participated in July 4th festivities, and have been hosted by the citizens of Huntington Beach with an old fashioned picnic.
This album begins over an hour before the start of the parade at the reviewing stand reserved for Marines and their guests, and continues as runners pass by prior to the start of the parade, highlights of the parade, then moves to the private picnic grounds, and finally to the softball game which took place at the sports center after the picnic.
