Change of Command ceremony is usually an event of high and mixed emotions. The departing commander regrets leaving the camaraderie carved out during many months of intensive training and combat operations. while the new commander enjoys the recognition, honor, and privilege of being entrusted with the command of a Marine Infantry Battalion.
On this day, 1/4 (1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division), honors the departing and welcomes the new commander.
The motto of 1/4 is: "WHATEVER IT TAKES"
These images are in the order of the ceremony, beginning with the empty parade ground, informal visits as the guests arrive, and concluding with a few posed shots at the reception. The first image is a copy of the program listing the sequence of events.
