1/1 MARINES CAR WASH - 30 JULY 2011
1/1 (1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) visited Newport Beach again for another successful car wash, raising funds which will be used to offset the cost of attendance for the lower enlisted ranks at the Marine Corps Ball in November 2011, after the battalion returns from deployment in about two months.
1/1 was formally Adopted by Newport Beach in 2003, and once again, the citizens of Newport Beach and surrounding communities turned out to support the Marines & Sailors of the battalion.
Thanks to SimonMed for allowing the Marines to use their parking lot on PCH, a prime location, and for a great team of workers and volunteers, including advance work and coordination by former 1/1 Marine Captain Tim Sloat, the battalion's FRO (Family Readiness Officer) Rick Anderson, Sgt Parker, SSgt's Finch, McPheters, and Coole, as well as Mary Oldham, Fontaine Parker, and Robyn Coole.
