Rainbow Apartments by Shelley Using the colors of the rainbow as a starting point for this high-rise apartment, Shelley has created colorful, yet simple theme habitats for her guinea pigs. Corrugated plastic is used for the base of each cage and hardware cloth is used for the sides and back; grid-cube panels are used to enclose the front of the cages (organizational shelving may also be used). She used a 2' x 4' utility-shelf unit to hold the four cages. The bright colors used for the corrugated plastic bases and the items in the cages are all that is needed to create this colorful and fun Rainbow Apartment. Completed cage setup; top 3 cages in use. Supplies and a couple of corrugated plastic bases in place; hardware cloth on back & sides of bottom half-attached with cable ties to frame of shelving & stapled to wood shelves on each level. Top shelf with corrugated plastic base and acrylic window in place Simba: veggie-time; enjoying new cage! (Water bottle attached with small bungee cords & 1 hole cut through hardware cloth for nozzle.) Hardware cloth (wire) attached around sides & back of shelving; bottom 2 shelves corrugated plastic; photo shows 1 cage completed. Simba in hammock Grid-panels used to close off front of self cage attached with cable ties to each other & frame of utility unit. White fleece attached w/carpet tape to center of corrugated plastic base; bedding on each side. Cube grid "doors" attached with cable ties to frame as "hinges". Nala enjoying new cage for the first time.  Acrylic window fronts attached inside frame of unit & taped along bottom. Nala's bottom shelf cage completed; cube-grid "doors" secured tightly with cable tie.
