Cozy Cavy Cafe by Calypso
This theme cage brings back memories of a 1950s diner with its black and white checkerboard decor, menu, and colorful accents. However, this cozy cafe has a twist to it ... it only serves guinea pigs ... and very contented and happy ones by the looks of the photos! Information on making a "Cubes and Coroplast" cage may be found at: www.cavycages.com

LATEST REVISION: The cage is now a "2 x 6" (16 sq. ft) Cubes & Coroplast cage. There is a grid divider in the middle to separate the 2 pairs of pigs. Each couple has a "2 x 3" with a "2 x 1" Upper Level and a Hanging Shelf Basket.  The checked Contact Paper on the front of the cage has been removed from this latest revision.

PRIOR CAGE: Items used for cage construction: Black Organize-It Storage Solution cube grids from Target, black corrugated plastic, black cable ties, black & white checked Contact Paper, black rubber-shelf grip, carpet tape, packing tape. Base is made from cube grids and is extremely secure. Bottom level is 2 x 5 grids. "Loft" (on right) is 1 x 1 and upper-level (on left) is 1 x 2. All connections were reinforced with black cable ties.

Left side of cage: ramp to 2nd-Level is made from two pieces of Coroplast taped together sandwich-style. Carpet tape was used to attach rubber-shelf grip to give the pigs more traction. A hand-held hole punch was used to make holes in one end so the ramp could be cable-tied to the grids and the bottom rests on a brick to reduce the angle.
