It's done! I actually remade myself another Jedi kit. I haven't costumed as a Jedi in 5 years, I think the last time was at Dragon Con 2003! I swore I would never again wear one because everyone and their mother has a Jedi costume.
Well, while watching Hero's and several Samurai movies on TV I was inspired by the clothes. I went on to design my own custom Jedi, something different than what you always see. No tabbards on mine (I've never been a fan of those), and a short sleeved outer tunic. I also trimmed it in handmade pleated trim to give it a more finished and tailored look. The skirt is a full circle skirt made from crinkle cotton that has a really nice drape to it (and is lightweight). All the seams on every peice of the costume are finished and frenched. I also made the belt myself from leather trimmings (www.mjtrim.com) and nailheads.
I'm very happy with how it turned out, and actually look forward to wearing it! I just need a lightsaber now...

Hello! I saw your custom Jedi outfit on the Rebel Legion forum and I fell-in-LOVE! I adore it! I showed my sister as well, and her first reaction was a gasp.
Anyway I'm not the best costumer...yet (though I have made a few in the past), and I was wondering if you could give me some tips on the outter tunic. I never liked the tabbards either, so I'm a big fan of the style you used. Did you create your own pattern for the outter tunic or did you just modify a pattern? If so, which pattern?
Thank you so much! I'd really like to create my own version for Celebration CVI.

I would like to talk to you about a custom made Jedi outfit I would like to be made. If you are interested please email jedi4aces@yahoo.com Thanks Debra - debra, Mon, 19 Oct 2009 1:53PM
1 Mostly inspired by Yaeko's costume from Heros.
2 The *complete jedi costume.
*Ignore the belt on it here, the one I made was still drying so a stand in was used.
3 The Back (again, stand in belt).
4 The pouch I made for Will's Ren Fair garb, but it suits my Jedi just fine as well :-)
5 You can see the faux undertunic here. It is simply a wrap tube top with gauntlets for sleeves. Jedi costumes tend to be really warm, this was my way of reducing a little extra fabric without skimping on the design.
6 Hand pleated trim made from the same raw silk the tunic is made from. The inner wrap is made from Khadi that my friend, Anu, brought back from India for me.
7 Side View
8 Waist view to show the pouch and details.
9 Sleeve pleating. The pleating helps the give the sleeve a little body with out the need for lining.
10 The gauntlets for the inner 'sleeves'. They have a small peice of clear elastic at the middle finger to keep the point in place at the hand.
