1 Initial sketched concept. I came up with this while killing time during dury duty. There was a lot of time lol
| 2 When sewing on a curve, it can be helpful to snip notches to help it lay smoother. I also top stitched the curve to help reinforce that area.
| 3 Sew pretty!
| 4 Did I mention that I really like top stitching?
|
5 The bodice, complete with side stripe details done in Heat Transfer vinyl, mirror foil.
| 6 The skirt is a full, floor length, circle and is sewn to the bodice starting and ending at the side front seams, leaving the front completely open.
| 7 This is just pinned on to see how I like it.
| 8 Originally I was going to do a box box pleat like this, but I wasn't happy with how it flowed and moved.
|
9 The boots that helped inspire the entire idea.
| 10 Bodice Stripes.
| 11 9 YARDS of hem length! This took forever LOL
| 12 The skirt attached to the bodice.
|
13 Perfectly matching stripes from bodice to skirt!
| 14 The back now has a really nice fullness to it and swishes beautifully when twirled.
| 15 Bodice front. I made this to mimic the feel of her armor and the shoulder pauldrons.
| 16 I'm obsessed with how nice the 'V' point in the bodice worked and how smooth my curves lay.
|
 17 Gorgeous gold cap sleeves.
| 18 The back was made with a higher cut so I could wear a bra with it.
| 19 Trying on the dress with regular leggings and a stand in gold belt.
| 20 Completed the leggings and added pockets! I didn't want pockets in the skirt, as I didn't want to mess with the lines in it, so I added them to the leggings instead.
|
21 The stripes in the pockets lined up perfectly with the ones in the legs.
| 22 Dress, Leggings, and Boots all together.
| 23 Just hanging out in my costume closet. It's so long that I think I might have to get another hanger just to hang the skirt from.
| 24 I bought these cuffs a few years ago since they were the same ones used for Admiral Holdo (Star Wars, The Last Jedi) but in gold vs silver. I found them in my stash and realized they were perfect for Killy!
|
25 They were kind of rough and scratched up my skin, so I lined them in scrap black leather from my stash. They look so awesome like this! I might borrow them for regular wear too lol
| 26 Sexy gold and leather cuffs for a killer captain!
| 27 I made the belt by using craft foam in layers for the base shape. I wasn't going for the exact size of the costume, but rather to fit a buckle I was planning to use.
| 28 I then glued a faux leather over the foam.
|
29 My phaser was a gift from a friend who 3D printed it.
| 30 I had the fun of sanding and priming and sanding and priming get a nice smooth finish. I used from 220-800 grit. I wet sanded from 400-800 grit.
| 31 The type one and the barrel of the main body.
| 32 Isn't she beautiful! There's still a few little things I'd like to work on, but it's pretty much done.
|

| 34
| 35 Phaser set and dagger set.
| 36 My beautiful purse that I made before even thinking about the dress. It was the perfect accessory to my outfit.
|
37 Mary Chieffo was one of the masquerade judges with me, and she loved my look. She pulled me aside to take pictures for herself!

| 40 This was my first time judging the Farpoint masquerade, as I'm usually the one BEING judged. Here I am handing an award to my friends' daughter for her original creation. She hand sculpted and built up the foam for her mask and covered it in the fur. It's hard to see here because of how she is holding it.
