The morning drives started at 6 a.m.
The afternoon drives generally started at 3 p.m.
All aboard!
The first two days we were there, Gary and I had Janine all to ourselves. The third day we were joined by just one other couple. After that, we joined up with 6 other people travelling together, and were with them on the rest of the drives.
Property view
View of the lodge (left) and service buildings from across the valley.
We loved just looking at the landcape
The Fever Trees caught our especial attention.

The next day we spotted him again, this time with a fresh impala kill.
He had engorged himself and just lazed nearby, trying to digest enough to eat some more.
We were given permission to exit the vehicle and walk to see him, getting within just a few yards.

Spotted him again a couple days later in a different section of the reserve.
He was probably thinking that it was about time to start thinking about the next meal.

The waterbucks are easily distinguishable from their "toilet seat" marking on the rump.

The first couple of days, this is how we saw the hippos.

We were lucky to get cool overcast days, encouraging the hippos to come out of the water.

One day we went on a night drive and saw nocturnal animals that rarely come out during the day.
Besides the hippos, we saw a bush baby and a bush pig but were unable to get photos. Also saw a couple toads and a nightjar (bird).
Huge vultures were hovering over the spot where the cheetah had made the kill that we saw.
They also liked hanging out at the "Vulture Restaurant" boneyard, where carcasses of dead animals were often taken.

We saw lots of weaver birds
And several weaver bird colonies.
African Fish Eagle
Wahlburg's Eagle
Some of the other birds we saw but didn't get photos of were: Starlings (Blue, Red Winged, and Purple), Kite, Ox Picker, Burchell’s Coucal (rainbird), Swallow, Scarlet Chested Sunbird, African Jacana, 3 Banded Plover, Purple-Crested Turaco, Kingfisher, Ibis, Gray Heron, Crested Guinea Fowl, Helmeted Guinea Fowl, Spur-Winged Goose, Black Winged Stilt, Sandpiper, Water Thick-Knee, Dark Capped Bulbul, African Darter, African Fin Foot, and the awesome Pin-Tailed Whydah
I don't remember what this funny guy was.
The other animals I noted as seeing, but which we don't have photos of, were: Duiker, Swamp Terrapin, Skink, Flying Termites, Bee swarm.
There were undoubtedly more, but without taking notes, remembering them all was difficult!
