Meet Bobwhite.
He is a 1-year youngster who came from a north Georgia shelter.
Being at the shelter was very scary, and he was passed over for adoption. Fortunately we had an open foster spot for this adorable fellow.
"Bob" weighs about 16 lbs.
Although he came to us as a blank slate, not knowing any basic commands nor even how to walk on leash, he is attentive to his humans and wants to please. He is figuring things out quickly!
He had to endure the shame of a belly band for his first few days here, until he proved himself trustworthy.
But he really didn't mind it much, and was an angel about having it put on and off. He is great with being handled overall and doesn't mind at all being picked up or touched.
In fact, he thrives on human touch, and he'd love to spend his whole day being right with you, beside you, or on you. And when you don't notice him snoozing on the couch and accidentally sit on him, he doesn't even complain about that.
This is his "Come hither and pet me. You KNOW you want to!" look.
If he thinks you've ignored him too long, he might just pop up when you least expect it. From here, it takes him only seconds to wriggle up into your lap.
"Don't mind me. Just go right ahead with whatever you were doing."
A couple days ago we couldn't find Bob. He wasn't on any of the beds or sofas. Not on the dog beds, not on the screen porch, not on any of the throw rugs. Starting to get a bit worried, I called him, and up pops a head.
"You really don't mind if I commandeer your office chair, do you?"
Download MPEG4 14 Sorry the video is sideways. But even sideways, you can appreciate this very helpful little fellow.
And sideways is how he often views the world anyway...
After keeping a dry belly band for a couple of days, he graduated to being able to run around naked and we are cautiously optimistic that he will maintain his Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for house training.
Bob enjoys evening TV time.
Sound asleep.
Bob was overjoyed to be reunited with his shelter mate Martin, when we were able to bring him in a week later. The two had been picked up together by Animal Control, and it seems very likely that they'd previous shared a home because they are so comfortable with each other.
Bob and Martin are both total cuddlebugs, craving pats, hugs, and attention. They're happy to share your lap and don't get competitive about it. They are both very glad, however, that most humans have two hands.
They love to play, run, romp, and wrestle together.
Such goofballs!
Fortunately they do have a nice downside, and can calmly just hang out together when they've gotten a bit tuckered out.
A patch of autumn sunshine, no noisy shelter, the promise of dinner.... what could be better?
Well, actually, a real home of his own could be better. Bob looks forward to the day that his new family discovers him and applies to adopt him.
