4-2 loss against a younger, trickier City team. They got up 2-0 fairly early in the first half, despite our having the sun and wind (usually) in our favour.
Darren had a late chance in the first half, but didn't get much power on it.
I may have the order wrong, but I believe Zane got the next goal, coming in from the left and getting a strong left kick past the brand-new keeper. (He's a rugby player.)
City made it 3-1, then I think it went 3-2, with Zane scoring again.
Zane had drawn a free kick at about midfield. City wasn't really set up, so I grounded a pass to Aaron Poulin on the left and he lobbed it into the right side of the box. Zane was there again and he put his right (wrong) foot to it.
City made it 4 on a corner. Doug was on the post and stopped the first attempt, then Sean Borman (YG last year) kicked it against the ground to make it bounce over Kyle. Kyle got his hand partly on it but thinks it would have gone over the net if he hadn't touched it.
Andrew and Daniel had good chances to make it close but things were just a little off.
Jason Fisher had his first game as well and showed good speed on the attacks.
They're a tougher team on offence this year — but we'll see what happens when we have more of our regulars out.
Al was certainly missed in the middle — but we sucked it up and did our best.
Kyle made outstanding saves to keep us close and the ones that got past him were well-earned. (We could have helped more.)
It was a great day for soccer and the loss didn't feel to-o-o bad (to me). City only had one yellow card and it really was a pretty civil game.

He's wearing Bryan Hunt's old number, as
Bryan and Frankie have sold their house and
are headed to Alberta. Bryan hopes to get on
with the Lethbridge Police Dept.

All the best to the Hunts!

Darren can play every other weekend,
so we'll hope that corresponds
with our game days and byes.
