VsDirtybirdsNov1

5-2 loss — compared to 5-1 last year. 3 yellow cards, though: to Garry and Zane for heading from behind and one to Steve for a kick to the leg. (He was sorry but that didn't help.)
We got up early, with a free kick by Ryan Long from about 20 yards out. The defender in the wall ducked and the ball hit him in the back and it fooled the keeper.
The Dirtybirds replied twice to make it 2-1, then we moved the ball down the field quickly and a cross from the right came to Andrew Overbeek in front of the goal. The ground was pretty rough and Andrew totally whiffed on his first attempt, throwing off the keeper. He was bang-on on his second shot for the 2-2 goal.
The Birds are a solid team and they came back to take a 3-2 lead into half time.
We were doing some of our good triangle passing that we saw last week, but we had less time and space.
Later in the second half, Abby got a free kick from 25-30 yards out. The kicker lobbed a high one at the net (just over Ryan's leaping wall of one) and Kyle got caught in the bad ground and couldn't quite react when it dropped just under the bar.
They made it 5-2 shortly after, on a converted corner.
(I see that only two teams have scored twice on the Birds in one game: us and Chwk City!)

Perhaps an example of why we weren't winning many headers
from our goal kicks.
We need to turn and face.

Not directly in from here. A bit of scrambling happened before it went in the corner of the net.
