ClayburnSept.27
1-1.

Tai Palladino's first-ever game — and what did we get? A tai! It would have been painful not to get at least a point, as we played well.

Clayburn looks to be a much-improved team over last year's squad, and we couldn't crack a goal past their keeper until late in the second half, when Bruce took a penalty shot to bring us even. We had an early goal called back on an offside.

Clayburn had their goal early in the second frame, with a little tip over a lone d-man to a rushing forward. Kyle blocked the first shot, but a Clayburn player knocked in the rebound. Kyle made some outstanding sliding saves on low balls to keep us in the game.

We had many chances in the second half, including an Al Berry shot to the top right corner... knocked clear by the Clayburn keeper.

For the tying goal, Zane carried the ball in from the right and was conveniently clothes-lined by a defender in the box. The ref spotted the ball short — then Bruce repositioned it even closer. Their keeper yelled "I could spit on him from here!" Still, the ball was not re-placed and Bruce knocked it in for the tying score, with a couple of minutes to go.

Geoff Lundgren in background. We have at least 3 guys with natural left feet: Geoff, Daniel A. and Zane. A great asset on the left side.

Next game I hope to be on the far side, to shoot other players besides Zane!
(Other players are welcome to shoot with my camera when I'm on the field.)

I didn't notice when it happened, but it looks like they switched keepers at some point. Maybe  this guy was late?
