FriendlyVsHSS
It was a friendly — but not having a full line-up was a pathetic way to keep things close. We played 2 short for most of the game, then 3 short when Al had to take his daughter to daycare, then one short when Ferd Alcos filled in for a few minutes until he injured his knee.
Bruce scored early, from in the box, then we had a ton of chances but not much on the net. We were communicating pretty well and using back passes, square passes and give-and-goes. Playing two short, though, it was easier to defend against us in the red zone. Ross Garrett played very well as sweeper for the Mustangs.
HSS got their break late in the game, when I was on the ground in our box and the clearing kick was shot at me, I pulled my hand out of the way but the ball contacted it and and they were given a penalty kick.
Zane was giving Kyle a turn up front, so he experienced his first penalty kick. Johnny shot it well, to the low corner.
Jacob Willock made a nice save off a Hanway cross to Kyle, then covered up the rebound before we could get it. Jacob went for a run later on and Al caught him and hammered him off the ball.
They followed up with another goal off a loose ball in the box for a 2-1 win. | Date(s): Oct2. Album by Barry Stewart. Photos by Simon Kim & Alex and Dean Friesen. 1 - 44 of 44 Total. 272 Visits. |
