A first-time experience for Simon Brouwer, Brent Cross and Ross Garrett, who have only played high school ball before this. Tyler Paul-Marino had his first game with the Choppers. They all did well.
Barry and Garry acted as refs, taking a half each, as no ref was arranged and some people felt a ref was needed.
Kyle was at Penticton, so Bruce was in net in his retro jersey. I think we had 3 subs. OSP had one or none.
It was 0-0 for a long time, then OSP got a nice shot to the low corner.
1-0 at the half.
I may have them out of order, but Zane got a deflection goal, then D.J., then OSP scored on a long cracker to the top corner. They were doing well at picking the corners.
Dan K. replied immediately, with a rush from the kick-off, down the right and into the box for a shot. It was about 6 seconds after the kick-off.
Simon B. had two sweet chances but missed the net both times.
OSP tied it up, then DJ passed across to brother Ryan for the score. OSP appealed it as an offside pass, so it was disallowed.
Late in the game, a low cross came from my left. I stepped out to get it and collided with OSP's Barry who was behind me, who was also going for it. I thought the collision was enough and the ball had gone through, but their Barry had somehow stopped it. He turned and fired for OSP's 4th goal.
We did well, and can only get better when we get all of our players there. BTW, Geoff had a time of 26:30 on the Hope Hustle race hike in the morning. That's a great time!
