"Uhnlooky," as Garry would say.
Meanwhile, the Young Guns seemed to get most of the breaks... other than Lyle's forehead opening up for stitches when he and Ryan Long banged heads. (Ryan was okay.)
We knew it was going to be a different game than the last two weeks. Both teams had chances but YG scored first on a long pass over our d-men to their striker.
We responded quickly, with Darren converting on a loose ball in the box.
Ryan Long came close on another chance, dinging it off the post.
About then, Geoff got a red card when he stood his ground as a YG player was coming in for a header. The YG player lay on the ground clutching his head, while calls for a red card rang out from the sideline.
The ref later explained to Kris that Geoff had gotten an elbow to the head of the player. Geoff said the guy hit him in the back of his shoulder. Truly unlucky.
YG came back with a shot from in close that Kyle had no chance on. Kyle made several clutch saves to keep things close — as well as in the second half.
Zane replied soon after, with a little lob that D.J. was trying to get a piece of but missed. It went in anyway.
2-2 at the half.
We came on with good chances in the second half, perhaps the best when D.J. came into the box and scooted around 3 or 4 players before he hit the side of the net. A foul in the box would have been nice, but no Y.G. wanted to trip D.J.
With about 14 minutes to go, Kyle came out for a loose ball, as #5 charged in. Kyle realized he was close to the 18. He knew he couldn't catch it and stay inside the line, so he punched at the ball but didn't get much of it. It bounced off somebody to #5, who got just enough of it to score. Justin was bearing down on the shot but couldn't quite get there.
The Young Guns congratulated us on a good effort. We did manage to double their goals-against record. They had 2 against in the first 4 games. | Date(s): Oct. 30, 2010. Album by Barry Stewart. Photos by Barry Stewart. 1 - 26 of 26 Total. 305 Visits. |
