M1873 Springfield Rifle (Updated: December 31, 2007)This album contains images of my M1873 Springfield rifle. This rifle was manufactured by the Springfield Armory in June of 1879. Someone in the past "cleaned" the stock and obliterated most of the cartouches. However, Master Armorer Samuel W. Porter's cartouche is barely visible in bright Sun light as is the circled "P" firing proof. I gave the rifle a variety of "field upgrades" to improve it for firing.
