2009 CONGRATULATIONS TO KANDY (ROGUE X KOA) AND KEELA (FORMERLY LILO - ROGUE X NEMO) WHO BOTH EARNED THEIR SCHUTZHUND BH TITLES!

We are not a kennel or a “breeder”; we are merely a family who loves American Bulldogs.  All of our dogs are our family pets – they sleep in our bedroom, chew up all our kids’ toys and bark (happily) at the neighbors. While we occasionally breed our dogs, we consider ourselves American Bulldog Enthusiasts more than anything!

Why Tried N True?

There are WAY too many unwanted dogs in shelters and WAY too many of these are amazing bull breed dogs.  Bull breeds, including AB’s, Pit Bulls, Am Staffs, Staffordshire Terriers and others, are not for everybody.  AB’s in particular are large, dominant, stubborn and strong animals; although, they are also amazingly loyal, friendly and fun!

Working ability is very important in the American Bulldog; if you have a bulldog, work it!  Conformation and structure are important too; the dogs must have the proper structure in order to do the work you set for it.  Finally, temperament must be of the highest caliber; whether the dog will be trained to work or “merely” kept as a family pet.

All of our dogs will be tried, tested, judged and hip and health-checked before we will even consider breeding them.  Unless they have something to contribute to the American Bulldog gene pool, they will continue to live happily at home.

American Bulldogs typically fall into two types – the smaller, athletic Standard type and the heavier Johnson, Classic or Bully type.  Our dogs are hybrids of the two types and have bloodlines from many well-known AB breeders.  We like athletic Bullies and thicker boned Standards and can appreciate the beauty in them all!

Send us an email, give us a call or meet us at an American Bulldog show to learn more about Tried N True American Bulldogs.

July 2005 – Best Standard Female – Chi-Town Heat
September 2006 - ABNA Nationals Best of Breed Winner - a special thanks to our judges Alan Scott, Greg Karasek and Greg Souza for this major win.  It was long fought and well worth the wait!!!
November 2006 - awarded IABCA adult International Championat title, also ranked in the Working Group class beating some beautiful Dobermans, Rotties, etc.
2007 - earned her ATTS Temperament Test title, tore up the field in Sprint Races & looked like a Greyhound, got third in Working Group at the IABCA show & Reserve Best in Show Rare Breed!
2008 - earned her NKC Major for a Best Standard Female win at the Ch-Town Cooldown in her first NKC showing!
2009 - Best of Breed at Arkansas Rumble on the River Saturday, 2 consecutive Best in Shows - earning her NKC CH in 4 days, Fastest AB in the Sprint Race!

A big thanks to Matt and Susie Boyd for breeding this beautiful American Bulldog and allowing us to own her!  She has the sweetest temperment while maintaining that protective instinct that we love in the breed.  She is structurally sound and simply floats in the show ring.

Rogue was a drivey and crazy little pup, but since she has matured and been a momma, she has really mellowed.  She is tempermentally sound with people, kids and dogs.  She earns her keep as a "cart horse" and pulls all the kids around the neighborhood - I'll have to get some pictures of her doing this soon!

"Yeti"

Dam:  CH TNT Rogue of Boyd, CGC PH NCL cl
Sire:  GrCH Davis' Captain Nemo of C&S Farms, WP PH NCL cl
DOB: 2/7/07

This little girl is our keeper from the Rogue and Nemo breeding; her puppy name was Snow White.  She is everything that we had hoped for when choosing to put her parents together - beautiful, solid structure with an even family suitable temperament and working drive ready to turn on!  We took her to her first show at just 3 months where she earned some conformation ribbons and placed first in Driviest Puppy against pups that were nearly a year old!  At her second show, when she was 6 months old, Yeti won Best of Breed over all other puppies!  She was a finalist in the Drivey Puppy class, along with sisters Ivy and Lilo and won the Puppy Sprint Race!  Yeti is a lot of fun and a great addition to our family.

Yeti is maturing nicely.  At the end of 2007, she earned her Jungsten Championat with the IABCA - an international conformation championship.  In 2008, she placed again in conformation and earned quite a few titles with very little training.  Her temperament is outstanding and earned her American Temperament Testing Society title and Canine Good Citizen on the same day.  She competed in her first Iron Dog in September against 12 seasoned competitors and placed fourth!

2009 UPDATE:  If I did my addition correctly, Yeti is now an NKC Champion!  I am eagerly awaiting the CH certificate in the mail!  We are very excited and proud of her as she is the first Champion that we have bred.

5. Showing AB's  (October 11, 2005)
Chris and Chrissie Reiss believe in networking with other bulldoggers to learn more about this incredible breed of dog.  We also believe in preserving the working aspect of American Bulldogs.  To that end, Chrissie has apprenticed with and is approved for judging the American Bulldog National Alliance (ABNA) conformation shows and Irondog Events.  Chrissie was also active with the ABNA as Secretary of their Board of Representatives.

Chris & Chrissie are members of the Bulldog Mafia and the Gateway Bulldog Group.  Along with these groups, they have hosted four ABNA sanctioned shows – the Gateway Invitationals.  These shows have been held at Purina Farms outside St. Louis, Missouri and included conformation, APA weight pulls, Iron Dog Triathlon and Pentathlons, and Protection Tournaments.  We had a lot of fun hosting these events and will consider hosting more.

12/2008 KANDY EARNED HER SCH BH!!  Great job with her Lynda!

This beautiful little pup was our keeper from the Rogue and KOA breeding.  She is the total package!  Solid structure, playful temperament and super-drivey!  At two months of age, she was already challenging "Uncle" Draco!

Kandy decided to try our patience (and pocketbook) in her youth.  At 3 1/2 months, she had surgery to remove items that were blocking her stomach/intestines.  Then on her 5 month B-day, she broke her rear leg requiring additional surgery.  Her conformation career is questionable, but her new owners plan to look more toward working events at this point.  I see a SCH title in her future!!

Second Place Driviest Puppy – Battle of the Bulls '05

We are having fun working this young dog; he is an amazingly athletic and drivey Bully-type AB.  He is crunched down on CH KMK's Mufassa - a grandson on top and great-grandson on bottom.  You want drive?  At just 7 months, Draco did a two minute hangtime for exhibition at the Battle of the Bulls!

2006 UPDATE ON DRACO:  Draco is maturing nicely; he is a solid 80 pounds of athletic muscled up Bulldog with nice, clean breathing room.  Draco had an amazing time at the 2006 Return of the Bulls!  With virtually no training at all, he earned his CGC, GDT, Iron Dog 3 and Iron Dog 5 all in one day!  This was his first Iron Dog competition and he placed second in the Pentathalon, only losing to his belly brother - Mace.  When his lazy owners get off their butts (hehehe) and actually train him, he will be amazing to watch!

2008 UPDATE ON DRACO:  Draco is now 3 years old, weighs 90 pounds and is a lot of fun to work with; he is a great big play-baby! He runs hard at least 10 minutes a day on his tread mill, hangs from his spring pole for hours on end and STILL wants to work more....then crashes at our feet for belly scratches and nap time.  He competed many times in 2007 Iron Dog events and was ranked everytime.  He is available for stud to approved females or for sale to the right owner.

2009 UPDATE:  Draco has been sold to James (JP) Parks of Austin, Texas.  He is very happy to be in a one dog home where he gets all the attention he could ever want and where he gets to go "work" every day.  Good luck with him in the future JP!
