Welcome to
Stoneybay Kennels. We are located in the beautiful
Pacific Northwest town of Ferndale, WA which is approximately 20 minutes south
of the
Canadian border. To the east of us looms the ever breathtaking view of Mt. Baker
and to the west lies the waters of Puget Sound that supplies us with some of the
most
spectacular sunsets around.Our home & kennel is nested in such natural beauty
that sometimes it
literally takes your breath away.
We built our home in 2003 and constructed our new kennel in
2005. We have 8 beautiful acres of farmland with lots of small wildlife around.
Our dogs enjoy spending time running around our fields collecting field mice and
other
small vermin. Sometime’s you have to laugh at these dogs and ask “why” when you
find dead rodents at your back door. But that's the nature of the Rat Terrier.
There is
nothing more satisfying than seeing a dog do what it was originally bred for.

I purchased my first Rat Terrier
in 2001 and started
showing in 2004. Over the last seven years I have met some incredible people
who have
mentored and taught me many things about this breed. Even though I had a
couple of
litters in prior years, my program never really started until the purchase of Elli
(RPK’s Black Elegance @ SBK). Elli is my first Champion who has won multiple
best of
breeds and group placements. She is a dog that absolutely loves to show.
I couldn’t be more thrilled to be owned by her.
Stoneybay Kennels is
intentionally a small
but serious breeder of Rat Terriers. My goal is to produce a dog that is sound
in body &
mind, who is structurally correct and who will demonstrate an outstanding
temperament.
Overall health is one of my top priorities when I decide to breed. All our dogs
are
checked for genetic problems and certified through OFAand CHIC.
We currently test for Hips, Elbows, LCP, Patella’s & Cardiac. In the near future,
I will be testing and certifying my dogs eyes through
CERF.
We provide a written health guarantee with every puppy that is
born here.
All puppies are born & raised inside our home and socialized from day one.
