 1 Specks in Mississippi
Mr. Specks is an adorable 9-lb. Rat Terrier that wants to be your constant companion. He loves to cuddle in your lap and just be close to you. Mr. Specks is a special-needs little man because he is deaf, but he learns quickly and responds to "tapping" on the floor to get him to turn and look at you to see what you want. He lived with a cat in his past life. He is completely housebroken and gets along with other dogs. He is crate trained also.
He is neutered and current on vaccinations.
ADOPTION FEE: $125

| 3 Petey in West Virginia
Petey is 8-9 months old. He was pulled from a high kill shelter in NC and is now being fostered in WV. He is a great dog with tons of energy! He gets along well with dogs of any breed. He just wants to play. He is excellent in his crate (sleeps in it at night without a peep). He loves to sit on your lap. He needs some leash training and has overcome initial shyness. He can be a barker. He knows "come," "sit" and "lay down." He looks like he could be a good agility dog.
He is neutered and current on vaccinations.
ADOPTION FEE: $175
If you'd like to adopt Petey, please contact Stacey Thomas, fostermom, at 240-675-9020 or sthomas31905@yahoo.com

| 4 Annie in Jacksonville, Arkansas (click photo for more information)
Meet this 3-4 year old Rat Terrier (possible Rat/Jack mix). Annie is about 15 lbs of fun! When Annie came into rescue about 8 or 9 months ago, she was shy and scared of her own shadow. She has gained so much confidence since she has been here and is now a really feisty, happy girl. Annie is full of life and, as is true of most terriers, thinks she rules the
world. Still, she has remained a very soft-natured girl who gets he feelings hurt easily. A simple "no" is enough to make her cringe and hit the floor crawling to you for forgiveness. At some point she was very badly mistreated and will still hide under the bed whenever she sees a broom or mop or such. Annie is very much a one-person dog and will follow her person everywhere. While she is playful and active, loving to go for walks and play with toys, she is also very easy to live with. She settles easily in the house and is always more than willing t...
| 5 Sandy in Peterborough, ON, CAN (click photo for more information)
I was rescued on one of my last days in the shelter. The shelter staff was frantic to find me a rescue spot as I am such an exceptional girl. I weigh 12 lbs and am a Rat Terrier. I have had oodles of pups in the past and can be quite motherly although at times dominant. I want attention so very badly and warm laps to curl up in. I like to go for walks, sleep in my crate at night and am housebroken. Overall, I am a quieter dog but need a family that can include me. I have lacked for attention for such a long time and would be happiest to be part of someone's world.
And now a few words from my foster mom:
Sandy is housebroken, sleeps in her crate at night and for the most part gets along with other dogs. She loves to cuddle but does not like to have to share her human companion with other dogs so she would be best in a home where she is the only dog. An adults-only home would be best for her.
| 6 Penny in the Ottawa (CAN) area (click photo for more information)
Penny is a sweet young Rat Terrier mix, estimated to be about a year old and weighs about 15lbs. Penny LOVES to play and will chew on just about anything. She learns very quickly though and will only chew on 'no no' items if there are no toys around. Penny is crate trained and will run to the door and turn around in circles if she wants out. Penny has never met someone she didn't like, she is good with kids, dogs and cats so far (though her fosterhome cats don't much enjoy her attempts to play). She is still very much a fearless puppy though, so should be monitored around young children since she can be mouthy and chewy. Penny is sweet, goofy and loving as can be but will sometimes try to sneakily dominate other dogs or people, so she should go to a home that understands potential alpha behaviour.
She is spayed and current on vaccinations.
