Salt Flats (April 2005)Hey guys.....
Just got back from the solar del uyuni last night, it was amazing. The salt flats were really cool, white and bright, in some spots it was covered with water and you couldnt tell the sky from the ground. In other spots it was dry and we had lots of fun making optical illusion photos. The other three days was spent driving around in a toyota land cruser through the desert and mountains, passing many beautiful lagoons filled with bright colors (made from borax, arcenic and other chemicals) and flamingos. We took so many photos along the way, we think around 300 or more so we had to keep deleting them when we had a chance, our card only holds around 150 pics. The accomidations were primative with shit all over the toilets but it was ok, the second night we slept at 4200m and it was freezing at 430 in the morning when we had to leave to catch an amazing sunset at some cool geysers...which made for some great photos. We travelled with an american guy and his soon to be wife from holland, they were really nice and we had a good time with them. we are in Tupiza (where butch cassidy and the sundance kid met their demise), close to the argentine border and are planning on leaving here on monday to Salta. |
