Blue in Flinthill AHT's
This is a pictoral history of how the color blue developed in our hairless dogs.
It is an interesting "plus" result of our (Bonnie Turner & Teri Murphy) quest for the "type" rat terrier we wanted to use in our budding AHT outcross programs for Flinthill and Wudnshu.
Blue must be present on both sides of the family to be expressed.
Blue, (like ALL colors/patterns) works genetically in the hairless just like it does in the coated dogs.
We knew we had blue behind the rat terriers we used in our outcross program, but we were focused on "type".
We were therefore pleasantly surprised when our first blue hairless, "Luna" was born in the "Celestial" litter, from Hayley and Rowdy.
This album is the maternal picture "pedigree" of Hayley, who is the dam of our first blue puppy, Luna.
A pictoral pedigree of Luna's sire "Rowdy" will be in another album.

"Monica"
(Wudnshu's Devil W/A Blue Dress)
Rat Terrier
Blue & white bi-color (she had no visible tan)
Teri bought this girl as a puppy from a breeder just north of her.
She liked her type and thought Monica showed promise.
Monica came here to Flinthill for her breeding career of two litters.

For her first litter, she was bred to an AHT and produced two
"trindle" (brindle pointed tri-color) pups, and one black and white bic-color.

For her second and last litter, she was bred to a rat terrier "Andy".
She produced two blue brindle piebald males, ("Tiger" & "Sarge") one solid blue with white markings female ("Blue Dahlia"),and one trindle male
("Trinny")

"Andy"
CH Lar-Mon's Black Magic

Rat Terrier, black & tan, with white markings.

When Teri first saw Andy, she called me & said she believed she had found the male we'd been looking for, & for me to send the money! LOL!!
I did, & Andy came to Flinthill. He was bred by Monnie Sims, and his blue litter brother Casper, is a UKC GRCH in conformation. A litter sister, Sissy, is also a UKC conformation CH. We're pretty happy with the "type" part of the equation! ;o)

Andy has been the most instrumental Rat Terrier in the Flinthill AHT outcross program.

Several of his coated carrier and hairless descendents are in other notable AHT programs.

"Tiger"
(Flinthill's Gotta Tiger BYDTail)
blue brindle with white markings

Brindle is a DQ pattern for rat terrers, so Tiger never had a show career.
Because he DID have outstanding type, he was used in the AHT outcross program.

When he was bred to "Tess" (TCK's Tess)hairless, for an outcross litter, they produced "Louie" (Flinthill's First Lieutenant)

My sincerest condolences to the family and huge list of good friends that Bonnie Turner had in this realm.

May she be joined by all her good dogs that have gone before her and also on the day of her passing.
