M1916 US mkd Remington M91
These rifles were built under contract by Remington (& Westinghouse) for the WW1 Czarist govt. A great majority were still in the US when the 1917 revolution in Russia overthrew the Czar & the Russians defaulted on the contract, Remington almost went bankrupt over this. The US Govt. bought a number of them where they were known as the M1916, they were stamped w/US ownership markings on the stock & are an extremely rare & desireable variant of Mosin Nagant especially the ones that never went overseas.
