The Nagant 1895 Gas Seal revolver was used by Russian/Soviet forces from 1898-1945. This album contains pics of Imperial era (Tzarist) Nagants, a Liege mfg in 1898, an original Tula 1905 single action only, an original 1911 Tula double action, & 1914 Tula double action. The single action guns were made up to approximately 1917-1918 & were discontinued by the Bolsheviks, included are some detail shots of the differences in hammer manfacture between the SA & DA

1905 Tula single action This piece is in original condition, all matching, non-import, it was manufactured at Tula 1905 & is an original single action only NCO/Enlisted model. note the original fire blued hammer, & gate spring
1905 SA cocked, showing hammer Note the outline of the lower part of the hammer & the lack of a hole/pin to hold the double action "hand". "Single Action" Nagants are being sold that are post imperial era, if looking at a WW2 era "single action" Nagant, check the pics here of the hammer note the differences & compare to the WW2 gun, I don't believe SA guns were made after 1917. All SA WW2 era guns I've seen have been standard DA nagants with the spring removed! There is a 1941 date SA Nagant in the Soviet Nagant section that shows this clearly. On this gun w/hammer at rest you cannot pull the trigger back, on a DA nagant w/the spring or hand removed you can pull the hammer back but it won't cycle the action.

1905 Tula Sa Hammer Again, note the outline of the front section of the hammer & the lack of a hole for the screw to retain the DA "hand"
1905 Tula Sa Hammer Face Here you can see the flat smooth area on the face of the single action hammer as opposed to the double action variant (see the pics of the 1911 Tula following for comparison).
