M44 Available for sale Hungary began using Soviet designed arms in 1948, they mfg the Mosin m44 carbine, Mosin 91-30 rifle, later the Mosin 91-30PU sniper & the Ppsh41. All the Hungarian mfg Mosins appear to be very well made & are rare in the US except for the M44 variant, although original all matching Hungarian Mosins are all hard to find in the US. A few Hungarian 91/30's came in w/imports from the Balkans, Hungarian M44 carbines also came in w/M44 imports, most Hungarian M52 PU's seem to be found as early non-import marked guns.

Hungarian mfg Mosin variants Top M52 PU sniper rifle Center M48 91/30 Infantry rifle Bottm M48 M44 carbine All the rifles shown are original matching w/all correct stamps & proofs.
Right side stock markings Here the Hungarian markings are displayed on the stocks of all three rifles, the sling slots are of the later Soviet style using pressed in escutcheons w/o screws, the 91/30 has small punch marks where the screws would have been, this is the only one I've seen w/these, the M52 sniper, M44 carbine & other 2 Hungarian 91/30's I've had don't have these marks.
Action views, right side The manufacturing appears to be identical to the Soviet mfg rifles & is very high quality.
Chamber markings Chambers are stamped w/date of manufacture, 02, the Hungarian WarPac arsenal code & the serial number, all I have seen use a 2 letters & 4 numbers, Hungarian Mosins are numbered/matched the same as Soviet rifles, the chamber, mag, buttplate & bolt are numbered w/the full serial number including letter prefix, in addition almost all small parts have an 02 stamping.
Forends The Hungarian wood has an odd orange hue to it, I believe they're birch wood.

Closeup of butt markings The 02 is the Hungarian Warpac country code, the circle B is believed to indicate Budapest.
M48 rear sling slot The circle 1 mark meaning is unk to me, note the sling slot is similiar to the Soviet late/postwar pressed in type but appears to have pins also, this is the only example I've seen of this on Hungarian mfg Mosins so I don't know how common/uncommon it is.
