1943 Huzagol 43M (8mm) | The 43M is a decendant of the pre war Hungarian Mannlicher 35M adopted in 1935 in 8x56, in 1940 the Germans modified the rifle to use the 8mm Mauser round & mauser clip instead of the Mannlicher clip, it also used a German bayonet attachment & German style sling attachments, this rifle was known as the GEW98/40, in 1943 the Hungarians in turn modified the 98/40 by returning to the Hungarian 35M style sling fittings & the Hungarian bayonet attachment for the 35M type bayonet but kept the 8mm Mauser cartridge & mauser style clips. These rifles along w/35M's were in fact utilized by the Hungarian Border troops post war at least as late as 1947. At the end of the album are some pics of the German version, GEW 98/40 for comparison, this rifle was an all matching gun but sadly someone had sporterized it, most of the differences between the 98/40 & 43M are visible though by comparing the pucs of the 2 rifles in the album. |

1948 M48 Mosin 91-30 (7.62x54r) | M44 Available for sale Hungary began using Soviet designed arms in 1948, they mfg the Mosin m44 carbine, Mosin 91-30 rifle, later the Mosin 91-30PU sniper & the Ppsh41. All the Hungarian mfg Mosins appear to be very well made & are rare in the US except for the M44 variant, although original all matching Hungarian Mosins are all hard to find in the US. A few Hungarian 91/30's came in w/imports from the Balkans, Hungarian M44 carbines also came in w/M44 imports, most Hungarian M52 PU's seem to be found as early non-import marked guns. |

1965 AMD65 (AKMS) (7.62x39) | The AMD65 was a Hungarian variant of the AKM using a stamped receiver. it uses a single strut folding stock & a very short barrel w/a large muzzle brake suppressor to control (at least attempt) flash/recoil. They were issued to armor crews, paratroops & other specialized units where the shortness of the weapon was an advantage. This went as far as having 20rd mags for these weapons although standard 30rd & 40rd RPK mags are interchangeable. |
